Zulmire: You be wantin’ to know who he is? *scratches his head* In what way d’ya mean there? Hmm. If you want t’ know more, y’ could always ask him, mon. I’m sure he’d be happy to tell you all about who he is an’ his honor an’ such.
Kalysto: *”Don’t. Touch. Me.”*
Desiree: ~Start trusting me, Kalysto. I’m not about to hurt you. I should think that I’ve proven that fact several times by now.~ *despite what Kalysto is telling her, she continues to try to calm him down by lightly massaging his neck and shoulders* Huh? Why the hell can’t you tell me who he is? Certainly you know him, so you must know his name.
Zulmire: Oh, ah… don’t really know him ‘dat well. One day he just come to ‘da village lookin’ around. I be wary of the paladins because one day, a stray one came an’ rode by the village an tried to kill ‘da pixie when he was young. But ‘dis one be OK. His name is Rhyderi. He be Kalysto’s big brother, mon. ‘Dey don’t really get along. Or, well… Rhyderi doesn’t get along with Kalysto because of ‘dat whole Warlock thing. He kinda gets it from everybody. That’s jus’ how it is.
Kalysto: *”Alright, alright. Just stop touching me. Listen to what I’m saying to you.”*
Desiree: His… big brother..? He doesn’t look a thing like Kalysto.. *She shakes her head in confusion. She then shrugs before frowning at Kalysto* ~Stop being so stubborn. My touch isn’t about to ruin you or destroy you.~ *Partially to spite him, she quickly moves her hand to massage his good ear in the same way that she had done the night before* ~Or have you forgotten this?~
Zulmire: So he say. Dey both hav de same bloodline, the same irritability. Dere be a lot of similiarities you won’t notice immediately, but as time goes on, you say, oh yeh, dat one is so de other one’s relation.
Kalysto: *”If you’re trying to turn me on, I really don’t feel like it right now.”*
Desiree: ~I’m trying to get you to relax. I’m trying to get you to realize that my touch isn’t bad. Whatever the hell you think I’m about to do to you when I touch you, I won’t. I don’t have a damn clue why you hate me that much, but it’s for the wrong reasons.~ *snorting, she continues to gently massage Kalysto’s ear. She then glances at Zulmire* I see… They still don’t look alike.
Kalysto: *”I don’t need to fill you in on the details regarding myself, but… there’s a giant stab wound in my stomach, I’m in pain, and you want me to relax? Lady, if you really wanted me to relax, you would dope me up on manathistle until I end up comatose for a week…”* *pulls the covers over his head, then curls up slightly, wanting to pick at the bandages on his stomach*
Zulmire: Dey don’t but dey are. You see in time, girleh.
Zach: *finally appears in the doorway* Okay, I’m here finally. What’s all this about an ear?
Desiree: *rolls her eyes* ~Yes, I know that you’ve been stabbed in the stomach. You don’t need to remind me of that. That’s why I’m trying to get you to relax.~ *sighing, she glances up* ~Manathistle? That stuff you grow in that “secret garden” of yours? Tell me where to find that garden of yours and I’ll get you some later.~ *she then glances up as she hears Zach* You didn’t notice that his ear is bandaged up?
Zach: No, not really. I was more worried about the giant gaping stab wound in his torso… *Sighs* So what do you want me to do with the ear? You bandaged it up, right? There’s not much more to be done other than that.. cartilage heals faster than bone.
Kalysto: *”It’s near the trees, south west of the exit. Partially shaded, gets some sun in the later part of the day. The manathistle are the blue-leafed plants, but don’t pick the leaves until they’re at least an inch in size. If you pick them too early, they end up really bitter.”* *sits up and pulls at his shirt, then begins to pick at the bandage more than he was before*
Desiree: Well, I’m not exactly trained in that sort of thing, Zach. You know, you can check up on it and make certain that I bandaged it right or something… I don’t want it to heal all wrong… *She then notices what Kalysto is doing. So she quickly reaches in to grasp onto his hand* Stop that. You can hurt yourself all over again by doing that. *she rolls her eyes*
Zach: Well, uh…. *slowly approaches the elf, moving over him once close enough. He places his hands on Kalysto’s head and inspects his ear before slowly trying to unbandage the other one so he can get a better look at it* This is so weird… I’ve never seen ears like this before.
Kalysto: *harumphs at Desiree* But it’s itchy. You stuck it on wrong. *glares, pinning his ear back as Zach touches it* Oh great, you’re back? You stab me in the gut and now you wanna fix it? *suddenly jerks his head away* Ow, get lost!
Desiree: *Groans at Kalysto before reaching in to grip onto his shoulders* Settle down, Kalysto. This is a different person. Can’t you tell that he’s much more out of shape than the one who stabbed you? *she shakes her head and looks up at Zach* I guess… *She nods toward Zulmire* His ears are similar though.. so maybe it’s something about their world.
Zulmire: What da hell are you talkin about, girleh? Trolls have long ears. Elfs have long ears. Da humans don’t have long ears. Who da hell cares? As long as ya don’t start insultin em, we are gonna get along fine.
Zach: *forcibly tilts Kalysto’s head to one side and carefully unfurls the bandage* If you want to get it fixed, you have to tolerate me for a while so I can work it out. If not, I’m going to knock you out and do it anyway.
Kalysto: *growls* I said don’t touch me! *swats Zach in the stomach and quickly moves off the bed. He immediately regrets the move as his legs wobble and his head swims with dizziness and he moves to crouch on the floor*
Desiree: *groans at Kalysto’s actions* Please, just settle down, Kalysto. We’re trying to help you out. Please, just trust us. If you continue doing stuff like this… We will have to pacify you for your own health. *she then looks over at Zulmire* There’s still no one with these types of ears on my planet.
Kalysto: None of you are willing to listen, are you…? *grumbles and reaches back to grasp at the edge of the bed, hauling himself back up onto it* I’m trying to tolerate it, but really. Stop touching my ear – it fucking hurts. It’s like getting kicked in the groin…
Zach: *quietly sighs and lowers his head in defeat* I think I’m going to get the gas.
Zulmire: Is not hard to work out, girleh. *rises to his feet* If yeh want to pull at my ears, mon, I won’t care.
Desiree: Kalysto, we know that it hurts. Trust me, we know that. However, you need some form of medical assistance. And my brother here is training to be… some sort of doctor.. So, he’s the best we’ve got. Please, just put up with it. *She shakes her head at him then nods at Zach* Ok… You do that.. *Soon after, she looks back at Zulmire* Why do I want to pull your ear?
Zulmire: I dunno… to see how it works? Tho I can’t imagine it bein any different to yours… you is just missin some of the turnin parts. I was jus suggestin it so you could look at it and see if it were similar or not. Not really somethin to worry about, missy.
Zach: *mutters to himself and leaves the room, returning only a few moments later with a large cylinder of anaesthetic gas, along with a tube and a mouth-piece* If you don’t co-operate, this isn’t going to be easy.
Desiree: I’ve had pleanty of time to examine Kalysto’s ears… *she shakes her head* It’s really not that interesting of a subject to me.. And not that special. One of my brothers has wings, after all. *she then sighs as she watches Zach bring in the gas* Kalysto, please just cooperate. We shouldn’t need to sedate you.. again.
Kalysto: You shouldn’t need to do anything – nobody should. I’m not asking for your help. I don’t want it. Therefore you should leave me alone… *moves to lie down again, and pulls the covers over himself* Go away.
Zach: Look… at least co-operate. I know it hurts, so I brought this along to help. *sets the cylinder down on the ground, then turns it on and offers the breathing apparatus to the elf* At least sniff some. It will take some of the pain away. The more you inhale, the more you will feel giddy. Trust me on this, it works.
Desiree: *Groans at Kalysto’s attitude. Shaking her head, she looks up at Zach* Just.. try to help him. I’ll be back shortly. *she then glances over at Zulmire* I’m certain that you can keep your.. “son”.. behaved so my brother can try to help him out. Please, trust us. We’re not doing any harm. *with that, she rushes out of the room. She then moves out of the base and begins looking for the garden that Kalysto told her about*
Kalysto: *rolls his eyes* Fine… *grabs at the breathing apparatus and cautiously sniffs the gas. When he decides he doesn’t find it unpleasant, he places it over his face and begins to inhale. After about 10 seconds of this, he goes completely limp and inactive as the gas knocks him out*
Desiree: *sighs in relief as she finds the garden. She then begins to quickly search through the various plants, trying to find what Kalysto had described. Eventually, she begins to pick the leaves of plants that she believes are mana-thistles due to the descriptions that she was given. After about an hour, she finally returns to Kalysto’s room with a bag-full of leaves from the elf’s garden*
Zach: *sighs as he watches Kalysto pass out. He properly positions the gas over his face as he unfurls the rest of the bandages to get a better look at the damaged ear. By the time Desiree returns to the room, Zach would have left to fashion a custom ‘splint for the ear and so wouldn’t be in the room*
Kalysto: *is very much out of it when Desiree returns with the plants*
Desiree: *softly sighs as she moves to Kalysto’s side and notices that he’s still passed out. So, she sets the herbs that she had gathered onto a table near his bed before moving to Kalysto’s side. She then gently reaches in to pat the top of his head* Poor guy..
Zulmire: He not dat poor. He probably bring it on himself, you know. Dat usually how he end up in trouble. Stupid and overconfident. Da two things don’t mix. Ever. *shakes his head* Jus hope he is grateful for bein fixed.
Zach: *returns to the room in a few moments carrying a flexible soft plastic ‘splint’ he fashioned out of some leftover construction materials. He inspects the damaged ear for another few moments before he begins to bind it back up* He’s fortunate. the base cartilage is still connected to his head. The middle has just been stressed. *shakes his head* He’s not going to be able to hear out of it once I’m done.
