“Eeep!” The baby dragon began to chirp. When it heard no reply, it eeped louder. After a few more moments, it poked its tiny head out of the hole it had made. It was immediately apparent that the baby dragon was brilliant hues of blue, green and purple, it’s scales shimmered with iridescence, much like the surface of a bubble or a beetle’s wings.
Bright golden eyes immediately focussed on the surrounding area and they stared at the sleeping General, staring at Noemi shortly afterwards.
“Eeep!” It cried again.
September 16, 2011 at 2:30 am #53008SeferiaKeymasterNoemi frowned at the egg as she saw the head poke out. Shaking her head, she returned to her writings.
“I am not helping you out of that egg, whelp,” Noemi simply said. “It is your job to get yourself out on your own.”
September 16, 2011 at 2:48 am #53009Kat AclysmKeymasterThe baby dragon snorted in Noemi’s direction and cried out to her again. It was quite hungry and wanted to make the fact rather audibly known. Before too long the noise had woken up the General and he sat up.
“Shut up…” He growled as he picked up the egg. “Should I take this to the science department now? They probably will want to gas it soon.”
September 16, 2011 at 2:50 am #53010SeferiaKeymaster“I said no, you have to get yourse-” Noemi stopped as the General finally woke up. She narrowed her eyes at him before she coldly stated. “You are the one that has kept it for as long as you’ve had it, General. It is your responsibility. Not mine.”
September 16, 2011 at 7:07 am #53011Kat AclysmKeymaster“I kept it for as long as I have because the science department wanted live dragons, not eggs.” General Sephiroth shook the egg slightly, which caused the youngster inside to squeal in surprise. “I’m asking you if I should take it there now, or wait for it to finish hatching first.”
September 16, 2011 at 7:11 am #53012SeferiaKeymaster“I am once more telling you, the youngster in that egg is yours, General,” Noemi frowned at her friend. “It is your responsibility to decide what you want to do with it. It is also your responsibility to make sure it eats the membrane of its egg as its first meal..”
September 16, 2011 at 7:13 am #53013Kat AclysmKeymaster“Ah, I’ll hatch it first, then.” General Sephiroth decided with a nod. He seemed a little curious at her next statement, however. “Why does it need to eat the egg membrane as it’s first meal? Can’t I just order raw steak from the kitchen?”
September 16, 2011 at 7:15 am #53014SeferiaKeymasterNoemi set down her stylus to give the general a hardened look, not very pleased with his questioning. “It would eat the membrane because it has nutrients that are essential to its growth, General. Certainly you knew that. You were surrounded by as many scientists as I was.
September 16, 2011 at 7:26 am #53015Kat AclysmKeymasterGeneral Sephiroth set the egg aside and lay back down on the bed. “I see… too much to think about really….” He yawned and closed his eyes, intending to nap and get some more sleep.
The dragon had other ideas, though. It poked its head out of the hole once more and bit a huge chunk out of the eggshell before attempting to scramble it’s way out. It did not like being ignored.
“EEEP!!” It screeched aggressively.
September 16, 2011 at 7:29 am #53016SeferiaKeymasterNoemi sighed in frustration, for she knew that she would not be able to concentrate with the noise that the dragon was making. So, she stood up from her desk, taking a moment to stretch out her back, before she moved over to the bed.
Once there, she sat down next to the General. “Your adopted child seems to want you.”
September 16, 2011 at 4:37 pm #53017Kat AclysmKeymaster“Adopted??” General Sephiroth snapped his eyes open and snorted in disgust. “I’m not adopting it! It’s a DRAGON, Noemi! We’ve been bred to kill dragons. Why in the world would I ever want to adopt one? I don’t want a pet.”
He sat up and shoved the egg away, pushing it to the farside of the bed. “Once it comes out of there, I’m taking it to the science department so they can dissect it. I told you that.”
September 16, 2011 at 4:57 pm #53018SeferiaKeymaster“You deemed it worth your time to find an incubator for it, General,” Noemi explained her reasoning with a roll of her eyes. “Hence, you have adopted it. You didn’t give it to the science department right away. Even then, what do you think I have on this ship? I have engineers and mechanics. I also have doctors and medical students. However, I don’t have a biological lifeforms study program.”
September 17, 2011 at 12:35 am #53019Kat AclysmKeymaster“Off-board the ship does.” General Sephiroth’s tone was flat and unimpressed. “Our research and development department is connected to them. If I handed the dragon over, they would take it straight there, no doubt.”
The dragon growled when it was pushed away. It took the opportunity to slide out of its egg entirely, and then shook itself off, sending egg liquids all over the bed-sheets. It flapped its tiny immature wings and trotted over to the General’s flank before it clumsily fell over against his side.
September 17, 2011 at 12:40 am #53020SeferiaKeymasterNoemi frowned as the liquids were splattered over her bed sheets. Scowling, she shook her head before she narrowed her eyes at the small dragon.
~Clean up your mess. Lick up that stuff.~
Snorting, she turned her attention to the General. “And you are certain that you are determined to kill this one?”
September 17, 2011 at 1:25 am #53021Kat AclysmKeymasterThe dragon squeaked and raised one of it’s back legs into the air to use as leverage in its attempt to get back onto its feet. The move didn’t work and it ended up struggling and looking quite ridiculous.
General Sephiroth reached behind him to push it away. “I’m certain that I’m going to send it to the science department for dissection.” He sat up once more, annoyed that he had been disturbed. It was then that he noticed the proper colours of the baby dragon behind him and he raised a brow.
“Why is it so colourful? Space dragons are dull colours. Such as swamp-green, algae-brown and… olive.”
September 17, 2011 at 1:29 am #53022SeferiaKeymaster“Or black,” Noemi reminded the General. “They do come in other colors.”
Sighing, she frowned at the dragon once more. ~I said lick up the mess you made!~
“As for why it is the colors it is, I imagine that’s because it is from this planet. Perhaps it has to do with the parentage. I do not know,” Noemi suggested.
September 17, 2011 at 2:11 am #53023Kat AclysmKeymasterThe dragon stared hard at Noemi with it’s golden slitted eyes. It made a soft chirrup at her and lowered its head, licking at the patches of moistness on the bed-sheets. After another few moments, it began to chatter with hunger.
“It’s pretty… maybe they should keep the hide and stuff it afterwards.” General Sephiroth suggested. “It would make a nice colourful trinket for a table or a desk.”
September 17, 2011 at 2:22 am #53024SeferiaKeymasterNoemi gave the General an unimpressed look. “I’m glad that I was taken up to be raised instead of dissected..”
Snorting, she returned to her desk. “Make certain that dragon doesn’t make a mess.”
September 17, 2011 at 2:33 am #53025Kat AclysmKeymasterGeneral Sephiroth raised a brow at Noemi and suddenly shook his head. “Ah. My apologies. I keep forgetting that you are in part, a dragon. It keeps slipping my mind because you carry almost none of the draconic traits of our enemy.”
He picked up the youngster and carried it to Noemi’s desk, dropping it onto the table space near her work. “Here.” He moved back to the bed.
The dragon squeaked in fear as it watched it’s ‘parent’ move away. It stared up at Noemi and hungrily squeaked at her instead. “Eee-eee-eeep!”
September 17, 2011 at 2:57 am #53026SeferiaKeymaster“The scales aren’t a dragon part, General?” Noemi lifted her right eyebrow in confusion. She knew that parts of her skin were patched with scales. She also knew that the General had seen her nude more than often enough. So, she couldn’t imagine that he would miss that detail.
When the man set the dragon on her desk, Noemi shot him a dark glare. “I told you it was your responsibility.”
September 18, 2011 at 10:12 pm #53027Kat AclysmKeymaster“They’re not a dragon-part, at least… I don’t think so.” General Sephiroth offered. “What would you call it? It’s a part of you, not a dragon, silly.” He grinned at her. “The dragon is my responsibility, yes. You keep on saying that. I’m going to take care of it until it’s big enough to make a nice wall monument or something to that effect.”
The dragon made soft clicking sounds as it attempted to nuzzle Noemi’s hand.
September 18, 2011 at 10:16 pm #53028SeferiaKeymaster“Then you get it food, General,” Noemi snapped as she pulled her hand away from the dragon. “I’m not going to feed your pet.”
She then snorted in agitation. “And your explanation on the scaled is very weak. Extremely weak.”
September 18, 2011 at 10:35 pm #53029Kat AclysmKeymaster“It as an explanation none-the-less, right?” He grinned at her. He stepped back over to the table and plucked the baby dragon up, setting it down on the floor shortly afterwards. “Right, food.” He began to order raw steak for the infant with his neural implants.
“What the hell am I going to do with it anyway?” He grunted. “I’m not going to keep it as a pet, that would be stupid.”
September 19, 2011 at 2:47 am #53030SeferiaKeymasterNoemi released a long, dragged out sigh. “You may keep him here, General. Just, get it a bed or something. I don’t want it thinking that it can sleep on my bed. I only let one filthy, smelly creature on it.”
September 19, 2011 at 4:15 am #53031Kat AclysmKeymasterGeneral Sephiroth took the opportunity to give his mate a very harsh annoyed glare. “So you think I’m filthy and smelly? It is nice to know we have that clear and in order.” He grunted in frustration.
“What should I get for it to sleep on?” He wandered into the bathroom and picked up a towel, dropping it onto the floor. “Bed.” He pointed at it, then glared at the dragon. “This is your bed. Go to it.”
The dragon snorted at him, not understanding. He hiccuped slightly and resumed his hungry noises.
