Noemi patiently waited for the general to finish drinking. Once the man settled back down, she put the glass up in the sink before she returned to lay down next to her friend. Once the captain was settled down, she reached over to gently stroke the man’s shoulder.
“I love you, even though you can be such a hard-headed fool, my dear Sephiroth,” Noemi whispered into the silver-haired man’s left ear.
September 13, 2011 at 3:15 pm #52983Kat AclysmKeymasterGeneral Sephiroth made a low annoyed groan of reply. “I love you too, even though you enjoy putting your authority over me… you know I dislike it when you do that, yet you continue to do it anyway…”
He rolled over once more and began to drift off to sleep, still feeling very drunk and unwell.
September 13, 2011 at 9:50 pm #52984SeferiaKeymasterNoemi continued to pet her friend until she heard his breathing slow, indicating that he was asleep. Feeling that the General would remain asleep, the captain closed her eyes so that she could drift off to sleep as well.
When morning came around, Noemi rose up with the sun. However, she was quick to close the blast doors over the windows so that the General would not be disturbed by the light. She knew for certain that he would wake up with a hang-over. So, the captain had every intention to permit for her friend to sleep in and take the day off.
Thus, after showering, Noemi moved to her desk so that she could calmly read over various reports.
September 14, 2011 at 1:44 am #52985Kat AclysmKeymasterGeneral Sephiroth did indeed wake up with a harsh hang-over. He made soft pained groaning sounds as he came out of his sleep state, and he rolled over, trying to find a more comfortable position. He was also sore from the prior day’s activities which did not help things at all.
He cracked his eyes open, being able to make out Noemi’s silloutte in the darkness. He made a soft grunt at her and put his head back down.
“What time is it…?” He groaned finally. “We need to keep those others on task…”
September 14, 2011 at 1:52 am #52986SeferiaKeymaster“Mmm… It’s 11:26 am local time, General,” Noemi calmly replied. She set down her stylus as she looked up at the general. “And do not worry about keeping others on task. I have already requested for your lieutenant to cover for you today. Just take a day off, my friend.”
As she finished speaking, she got to her feet so that she could retrieve a glass from the kitchen. Soon enough, she returned to the general’s side with a fizzling drink.
“Here, this will help.”
September 14, 2011 at 2:01 am #52987Kat AclysmKeymasterThe General was not entirely motivated to sit up. However, when he sensed his mate’s presence nearby, he sat up without a second thought and took the glass from her. He drank down the contents and pulled a mild facial expression of disgust.
“I’ve never liked the effervescent medication.” He grumbled. “It’s too sharp and acidic.” He lay back down and briefly focussed on the ceiling before shutting his eyes again. “So what are you working on? You should be outside with the rest of the crew and securing the final support struts to the underside of your ship…”
September 14, 2011 at 6:33 am #52988SeferiaKeymaster“For now, I’m working on helping you return to a somewhat workable condition,” Noemi jested with a soft smile on her lips. “And I don’t care if you don’t like the drink. It’ll help you out.”
Noemi took away the glass as the General settled back down. Soon after, she sat down next to her friend so that she could stroke the top of his head.
“I don’t need to be watching over my crew. Everything is being handled without any difficulties. So, we are free to take a day off.”
September 15, 2011 at 12:56 am #52989Kat AclysmKeymaster“A day off? That’s unheard of… even for you. It’s completely unlike you to take a day off… are you sure you’re not sick instead of me?” He grinned briefly. “Mmm, you can do what you like, as you prove time and time again.”
September 15, 2011 at 12:59 am #52990SeferiaKeymaster“The ship is landed and I am more or less retired from duty at this point, General,” Noemi calmly replied. “So, I am free to take a day off. My staff also can easily contact me if there is a true emergency.”
“Now..,” Noemi waved to the pile of items that came from the General’s quarters. “You.. have an egg.” She turned her head to look at him. Her left eyebrow lifted up to indicate she was confused by the finding.
September 15, 2011 at 1:37 am #52991Kat AclysmKeymaster“I have an egg…?” General Sephiroth opened his eyes once again and raised an eyebrow at Noemi as he looked up at her. “You should be out in the ship looking after the crew… not me.” He sat up finally and propped his pillow up so he could lean back onto it.
“Egg? What egg?” He reached over to poke at Noemi’s stomach. “You have eggs too.” He grinned.
September 15, 2011 at 1:48 am #52992SeferiaKeymasterNoemi’s eyelide lowered to give the General an unhumored look. Shaking her head, she got to her feet so that she could recover the egg from the General’s relocated items.
Soon enough, she returned to the bed and set the dragon egg down on the bed.
“You have an egg,” the woman repeated.
September 15, 2011 at 2:21 am #52993Kat AclysmKeymasterGeneral Sephiroth picked up the egg and began to tap on it. “Ah, this. Why is it mine? I had the recruits retrieve it, that’s all.” He raised his brows slightly when the egg began to tap in response from the inside.
“Huh.. interesting.” The general ran his hand over the egg’s surface and he frowned further when he discovered a small uneven crack along the egg’s side. “Somebody’s damaged this. Where was it?”
September 15, 2011 at 2:28 am #52994SeferiaKeymaster“The egg came with your possessions, from your prior quarters, General,” Noemi plainly stated. “Hence, the egg is yours. So, do you have any explanation for it other than having recruits retrieve it for unknown rea-“
Her voice drifted off as she noticed the cracking. Instead of properly answering the general, Noemi began to study the egg.
September 15, 2011 at 3:09 am #52995Kat AclysmKeymaster“You cleared out my room and you had it taken out of the incubator without even thinking about it?” General Sephiroth growled, genuinely cranky. “It was sitting in my room and being kept warm. I was going to hand it over to the science department soon enough.”
The egg continued to make soft tapping noises and it shook slightly as the infant inside began to move. The crack along the side of the egg increased slightly, and then the tapping noises became louder.
September 15, 2011 at 4:51 am #52996SeferiaKeymaster“My crew was not made aware that you had an egg in incubation in your room, General,” Noemi scowled at her friend. “So, of course they did not move it properly.”
The woman then returned to eying off the egg. “I do believe that it is not damaged by accident, though. It sounds like it may be hatching.”
September 15, 2011 at 4:17 pm #52997Kat AclysmKeymaster“Your crew is incompetent, then.” General Sephiroth snorted. “Who in the world moves an egg out of incubation? You could have killed it.” He growled softly as he continued to watch the moving egg. “It’s hatching? It would seem so…”
He tapped on the top of the egg once again, grunting when the infant inside responded by tapping the same rhythm back from the inside. The crack grew larger still, and then a small hole was made in the side. A small golden armoured snout pushed it’s way through the hole and the tiny nostrils began to noisily suck air in, snorting egg-liquid out of them as the baby creature exhaled once again.
September 15, 2011 at 4:21 pm #52998SeferiaKeymaster“I shall take a note to give you the name of the crew member who was responsible for moving your belongings, General. You may reprimand them as you see fit,” Noemi offered as she eyed off the egg.
“Hmm… It must have started hatching hours ago. As I recall, a dragon can take anywhere from half a day to a full two days to fully emerge from its egg.”
September 15, 2011 at 11:38 pm #52999Kat AclysmKeymasterThe infant inside had stopped moving to rest now that it had a proper ventilation hole to the outside world. General Sephiroth was curious and reached out to gently touch the snout, the infant was very quick to withdraw into the shell once again.
“It may take a few days to be convinced enough to come out of there.” He grumbled. “The crew member that nearly killed this creature will indeed be getting a severe punishment. At least the science department will be happy that it lives.”
September 15, 2011 at 11:43 pm #53000SeferiaKeymasterNoemi narrowed her eyes as she watched the General stick his hand into the egg. “You are aware that your actions will lead to that youth being imprinted onto you. I wouldn’t doubt that it already thinks of you as its mother.”
Shaking her head, Noemi moved to the kitchen so that she could make a sandwhich for herself. “Are you hungry?”
September 16, 2011 at 12:21 am #53001Kat AclysmKeymaster“Phh, it’s not going to imprint onto me,” General Sephiroth sounded confident in his words, “It can’t even see anyone in there. Besides, it’s going to the science department later this afternoon. They’ve always wanted dragons to study and to dissect. This planet is full of relatively harmless ones so they will get their wish.”
September 16, 2011 at 12:38 am #53002SeferiaKeymasterNoemi gave the general a hard look. She highly doubted that what he said would be the truth. However, she did not feel like arguing with him at this time.
So, instead, she released a sigh before she repeated, “Do you want something to eat?”
September 16, 2011 at 12:40 am #53003Kat AclysmKeymasterGeneral Sephiroth shook his head in reply. “I think I should wait a few more hours before eating something. I still feel rather fuzzy and unwell.” He yawned. “Why don’t you take the egg for a few hours and put it somewhere warm?”
September 16, 2011 at 12:59 am #53004SeferiaKeymaster“It is your egg, General. It came from your belongings. I am not going to do anything with it,” Noemi quite adamantly stated. “You clearly adopted it. So, it is your responsibility.”
The captain calmly made herself a ham and cheese sandwhich, having found that real food was much superior to synthesized meals from the ship’s computer. Once the sandwhich was made, she moved over to her desk so that she could eat and resume her prior note-taking.
September 16, 2011 at 1:23 am #53005Kat AclysmKeymasterGeneral Sephiroth curled the top layer of bed-covers around the egg while Noemi made her sandwich, forming them into a pseudo-nest. He lay back down and closed his eyes once more, intending to get some more sleep.
When the baby dragon had determined that things were quiet and safe again, it resumed attacking the eggshell from the inside. It poked its tiny snout through the hole it had made and it began to gnaw on the hole in order to make it bigger.
September 16, 2011 at 1:32 am #53006SeferiaKeymasterNoemi glanced up as she heard the movement from inside the egg. Frowning in thought, she examined the egg for another few moments. However, she decided not to interfere. This was the General’s possession and responsibility. So, she decided to simply watch from her desk.
