Jenna: ~Transmitted thoughts? Though the medium in which we are transmitting there always escaped me.. Heh, a lot of dragons don’t even have words when they speak in this medium. They only transmit pure emotion and images. Still, I bet someone with your skill could change the “sound” of your voice here.~
Reno: Hmm.. Well, Rude and I have a very, very important mission of our own in Wutai and the Turtule Paradise.
Sephiroth: *”I’m not actually very much sure that I would want to do something like that, Jenna.”* *shakes his head* *”If it would amuse you, sure.”* *alters his telepathic signal frequency to match that of Aeris* *”If you are a goody-two-shoes like me, you can be in good standing with the Planet and reach the highest level of the Promised Land.”*
Elena: If your mission there involves getting completely blinded until you can’t stand up any more, I’d rather not know. What you do off-duty is none of my business.
Jenna: *releases a soft chuckle* ~Hey, you’re the one who’s asking me to talk to you.~ *she then grins as he messes with his telepathic signal* ~I haven’t the faintest idea how to even attempt doing something like that… Heh, if you want some amusement though, use that signal on Cloud.~
Reno: Even if Tseng were to join us?
Elena: Tseng isn’t at Wutai. I believe he’s on leave right now, at…. *stops herself* It’s none of your business!
Sephiroth: *is silent for several moments* *”….I didn’t even think of doing something like that.”* *kicks the back of Reno’s seat* How much longer until we get there? This is taking too long already.
Jenna: ~Heh, what would you ever do without me, my love?~
Reno: *Grins at Elena* Well, he might join Rude and I one- *yelps as Sephiroth kicks his seat. He then rubs his back and looks toward the passenger area* Hey! Don’t do that, yo! We’re only about thirty minutes away now. Just hold tight. I’ll get you there.
Sephiroth: *”I’d probably still be Aeris’s slave, or bodyguard. Or… something. I would be following her around, resenting every moment, and probably wishing I were dead again.”* Tch. Fly faster. I hope you’re not being paid by the hour.
Elena: *stares back at Sephiroth, then resettles in her seat again* I swear… *mutters* If he does anything, we should jump out and leave him here to crash with the damn helicopter.
Reno: Heh, I don’t think he’s going to be doing anything that will lead to that. *Shakes his head* Yo, how’s that hot babe of yours, Sephiroth? Where’d you pick up a number like that?
Jenna: ~I wasn’t really expecting you to answer that one.. It doens’t matter anyway. You have me now, and that’s that.~
Sephiroth: *grunts sharply, kicking Reno’s chair again* She is not a ‘hot babe’. And you should mind your own business, red-head. Just shut up and fly this contraption to your stupid headquarters. I don’t want to make small talk. *sighs* *”Indeed. I am not objecting to that.”*
Jenna: ~Well, you have me at least until some better male comes along.~ *smirks*
Reno: *yelps as his chair is kicked. He then yells back toward Sephiroth* Yo! Stop doing that. *shakes his head. He then grins as he sees the helipad for Mideel up ahead* We’ll be landing in fifteen minutes. Just hang tight back there.
Sephiroth: *”Oh, so that’s how it is? Pity I’m immortal and there’s nobody better than me.”* *glares back at Reno* Understood. I will stop kicking your chair. *leans back, sighing as he tries to relax once more. He would be silent for the rest of the journey if left be*
Jenna: ~Hrm… Perhaps you are right there. I can’t think of anything better than you, for the time being.~ *despite her words, her telepathic signal would be laced with humor, which indicates that she’s not being serious*
The helicopter shutters as Reno begins his decent, mostly because its dipping in and out of air currents now. After a few minutes, Reno safely lands the helicopter in the middle of the helipad.
Reno: Another job well done, if I do say so myself. *gives Elena a sly grin* Well, you know where to go. Rude is waiting for me.
Sephiroth: *”Is that a threat?”* *grunts and holds onto the railing as the helicopter begins its descent, scowling* Is that what you call a good job? I would hate to see a bad one. *moves to his feet, dusting himself off* Now that that’s over with… *steps off the Helicopter*
Reno: Hey, you got here in one piece, didn’t you? *he pulls a cigarette from his pocket and lights up it* I’m telling you, some people.. Don’t know skill when they see it.
Jenna: ~No, it’s not a threat. Settle down, Seph. I’m not about to leave you any time soon.~
Sephiroth: That’s all you did however. *scowls* Don’t smoke so close to equipment, it can start a fire. Didn’t your basic training ever teach you that? *mutters* Idiot. There was no skill in that, and there is certainly no intelligence in what you are doing now. *glances around the helipad* Where is this place meant to be?
Reno: *rolls his eyes* Same old Sephiroth.. *he finishes powering down the helicopter then hops out of the vehicle* Come on, it’s this way. *he waves Sephiroth over as he begins heading toward one of the buildings. The house that he’s heading toward doesn’t stand out too much, though it is larger than most of the other houses. Soon enough, he opens up the front door and waltzes inside* Yo, boss. We’re back.
Sephiroth: Do you honestly expect me to change very much over the course of a lifetime? *follows Reno towards the buildings, narrowing his eyes as he tries to guess where they are headed specifically* If the Shinra are here, they are not standing out.
Reno: Well, you did go bat-shit insane in the course of a few days, and now you’re back to being.. you. So, yea. Who’s to say how much you can change. *he shrugs and moves to lean against the wall in the main room* The boss will be here soon.
A squeaking noise eminates from the back of the room after a moment. Soon enough, Rufus wheels himself into the room and moves toward the center of a window in the back. While he still wears the white suit that has made him stand out in the past, he is now relegated to a simple wheelchair. He looks up at Sephiroth and nods.
Rufus: Hello, Sephiroth. I don’t think the two of us have ever actually stood face to face. *he gives Sephiroth a grin* It’s good to meet you.
Sephiroth: Bat-shit insane… *stares at him, then shakes his head* Hrmph. *folds his arms and waits, at least until he hears the squeaking. He narrows his eyes as he sees Rufus, then shrugs at him as he speaks* Greetings. I care nothing for small talk, so let’s get right to the point, shall we – why did you request me?
Rufus: Heh, no need for the pleasntries, I see. *he reaches up to flick his hair out of his eyes* That’s refreshing. *he then holds out a folder toward Sephiroth* My father’s company is no more. All that is left at the moment is myself and my most loyal of employees. You should know that already though. *he nods* We have been funding projects on and off for the last few years, looking into alternative, cleaner sources of energy. We think we’ve finally come up with a product that will help us start to rebuild and offer energy to the masses again. *he then looks up toward Sephiroth’s eyes* Hedheiger is dead, so we have an opening which requires someone with intelligence, skill, and understanding of the events that has lead us to re-look our old policies.
Sephiroth: *narrows his eyes at Rufus’s conversation and makes a very abrupt sound, not impressed* Sorry. I am not interested.
Rufus: Please, just hear me out. *he sets the folder on a table* You will have full access to all data, no matter the clearance level that passes by the company. What I am offering you is a position at the board of directors and as a department head. No one will be able to tell you what to do, and you will have full control over your department. IF you do not want an action to be performed, then it won’t be done. *he folds his hands together then leans forward to rest his chin on his knuckles* We will provide you with a new home for your family, seeing as you need one. And if you choose that you would want to have a home away from this town, I will personally fund the project. We both have debts that we owe this planet. I should think that it will suit us to work together to repay those debts.
Sephiroth: *snorts at him, turning his head off to one side, thinking hard. He has known this question was coming the entire time, but it still debating the whole thing over in his mind* It’s true that I owe something… *grits his teeth, muttering* The populace of his planet hates me, however. I did assist in the destruction of Midgar. I made thousands of people homeless. I displaced many more.
Rufus: We still have a certain amount of power over the media circuits, Sephiroth. We can rebuild your reputation and make them forget the claims that Cloud’s crew made over the years. Remmeber, only Cloud Strife ever actually saw you doing any of those activities during that time. It wouldn’t be too hard. *he reaches up to touch a scar over his left eye* I assure you that I am not going down the same path as my father. Certain events have opened my eyes to the reality of what ShinRa used to do.
Sephiroth: *narrows his eyes at him* I remain unconvinced. What makes you so sure that you are not going to do the same thing as him? *folds his arms across his chest, looking stern and stubborn now* Forgive me if I say I don’t trust you, but I can’t see any reason why you would have this change of heart.
Rufus: *chuckles and shakes his head* I was never the same as the old man. However, I see the reason for your doubts, and I understand them fully. Certainly you must be aware of the events that lead to all this. It was your actions that brought the WEAPON to Midgar. I just barely escaped the planet’s wrath with my life. *he shakes his head* I do not intend to waste this second chance that I’ve been given. *he then nods toward the folder* Read through the offer, Sephiroth. I can only give you my word that we are going to give you complete control and freedom over an entire department. There will be no Lazard, no Hojo, no Heidegger – which might I add, thank the Planet for that. His laugh was insufferable.
