Sephiroth: *frowns lightly, wanting to take the opportunity, but he thinks of the others back at his house. He opens his mouth as if to speak, then is hesitant, closing it again before rethinking his statement* …I really shouldn’t. I need to provide food for your siblings.
Sephiroth: *sighs and slowly nods his head* I am happy we could have this discussion. Farewell. *walks outside, gently closing the door behind him. He walks back into his house and sighs, not really sure about how he felt about that encounter*
Kalysto: Wow… that was awkard.
Desiree: *shrugs* It’s over now, Kalysto, so I wouldn’t worry about it. *shakes her head* I don’t know what he was doing snooping about, but… Well, he clearly jumped to conclusions. *she then moves to the sink and returns to washing the tubes and vials. As she does this, she sighs, for she had hoped that Sephiroth would take the invitation*
Kalysto: He was snooping about? I didn’t sense him around before he knocked. *shrugs* Anyway, I’m probably going to have those stinky things moved to the laundry…. if we want to start cooking here, it had better be hygenic and clean. I don’t want rancid… I dont know what, in my cooking.
Desiree: No, I didn’t meant that way. I meant looking around at paperwork and stuff. I mean, that’s what he said, right? *She then nods at his suggestion* Yea, that makes sense. *sets aside the items that she had already cleaned* I’ll clean what I can while you take them to the laundry room.
Kalysto: I think, considering your relationship with him, you have to take what you can get. At least your father showed interest in you, and not some older stronger taller sibling with the same coloured hair as him.
Desiree: Well… I am the eldest child. Zach always claimed that Father favored me. *shakes her head* It doesn’t matter. *She dries off another vial and sets it aside* Let’s just get this done with so we don’t have to suffer the stench any longer.
Kalysto: So take advantage of it. Play him up. Speak to him in a sweet voice, and get money. Heck knows we could do with some coming in. I have to start repayments sooner or later on this place. If they fall too far behind, they can come and evict us.
Desiree: *sighs at Kalysto* What makes that any better than just stealing the money? *frowns at him* I don’t get it.. *She then shakes her head* Let’s just get these things cleaned up, ok?
Kalysto: Stealing money? I may be a bastard but I’m not a thief. The reason why you butter up daddy to get him to give you money is that it’s a gift willingly given, and there’s no need for payback. *shrugs* Yeah, going to clean this crap up. Take it to the laundry.. *picks up the satchel of unwashed flasks and heads out there*
Desiree: *sighs at Kalysto* I don’t think he’d do that anyway… *she then nods at his suggestion* Yea, I’m just finishing up the bit that’s already in the sink. I”ll bring this down soon enough. *she then returns to scrubbing, though she’s still quite sad at the earlier rejected invitation*
Kalysto: *sighs at Desiree’s expression as he takes the satchel outside, filling a sink up with hot water as he carefully places the glass flasks down into it* *”Look, I know you didn’t get the outcome you wanted just now. And that’s too bad… but there’s always more opportunities. If something bad happens in the town… tell him. He’d appreciate the information. And.. you could always ask him to go fishing? The ocean’s pretty abundant in fish.”*
Desiree: ~You’ve mentioned this “go fishing” thing before.. What exactly do you mean? I’ve never actually heard of someone “go fishing”. Do you mean just buy fish from a vendor?~ *dries off the last vial then drains the sink. Soon after, she carries her pile out to Kalysto* Here.
Kalysto: *”Do I need to take you fishing myself? You buy a rod with fishing wire, a hook, and put bait on the hook. Then you fling the fishing wire far out into the water and wait for a fish to bite on it and get stuck. Then you drag it out of the water and kill it so you can eat it.”* *glances over at her* Oh, thanks. *pauses* Hmm… what kind of potions do you think humans would like the most?
Desiree: ~I suppose there’s a lot for you to teach me…~ *She shrugs* ~I suppose you’d call father boring.~ *She then nods at his gratitude before frowning in thought* I don’t know.. I guess children would like any of the potions that would let them do pranks.. You also could probably get away with selling flavored water and calling it love potion #9 or something like that.
Kalysto: Are you seriously suggesting I sell coloured water with flavours? As in, potions that have fancy labels, that don’t actually work? How… dishonest. *smirks* Besides. I already know of a love potion. Well. *pauses, turning on the hot water in the sink to properly immerse the flasks* It’s more of a Lust potion. It contians a herb that causes increased body temperature, and a rapid pulse. It also makes the guy rise to the occaision if you know what I mean. *shrugs* It’s an aphrodisiac, for people who can’t get it up normally.
Desiree: Umm.. We have Viagra for that, Kalysto. *chuckles and shakes her head* And yea, for the kids. They wouldn’t really care that much if it worked or not. They’d just be dumb kids. *shrugs* As long as most of your potions do as advertised… Anyway, how does one quantify “love” or enhancement of “love”?
Kalysto: I don’t freakin’ know. How are you supposed to even know what love feels like? I can’t replicate something in a bottle that I’ve never experienced before. I can only get out my little handy-dandy book of Alchemic recipes and go hrm, this herb goes with this one, let’s simmer them together for 10 minutes and use the residue with this herb for another effect.
Desiree: *frowns at Kalysto* “Never experienced before”…? *she glances down at the ground then shrugs* I guess… *with that, she moves away, intending to clean out the sink*
Kalysto: What about potions that replicate what food tastes like? *chuckles* All I would have to do is put the food in a blender and puree it for the potion. And voila, potion that replicates what the food tastes like. Pretty pathetic, huh?
Desiree: *releases a rather dry chuckle, still a bit concerned about Kalysto’s previous proclimation. Giving him a very small grin, she moves out of sight then begins to scrub down the sink*
Kalysto: *gives her a slight wave and heads out of the laundry* *”I am going to start cooking dinner now. Any preferences on what you’d like to eat? We did have a good hunk of wild boar until you fed it to half-stump.”*
Desiree: *shakes her head, even though it’s a completely useless action* ~No, I don’t have any particular thoughts on the matter, Kalysto. I can’t really think about what we should eat for tonight.~ *Since she is now sending thoughts to Kalysto’s mind, there would also be her more pressing thoughts about what Kalysto meant by never having experienced love in the transmission*
Kalysto: *”Oh that… you don’t know what love is. You didn’t even know what marriage was. Fuck, I don’t even know what love is. I wouldn’t call what we’re doing love. I would call it courting, or some kind of… relationship.”* *shakes his head* *”Love is bigger than that. It’s something my kind doesn’t fully understand the magnitude of until we’re well into our first century. How am I supposed to make a potion out of something I know nothing about?”*
