Kalysto: Get yourself out, damn it! I can take care of myself… *growls as he’s dragged along the ground, but doesn’t fight against her* God, you’re an idiot! Next time, listen to me! Now get us the fuck out of here!
Desiree: I was fine until you started yelling and distracted my concentration! *reaches the portal and dives in, dragging Kalysto with her. She then sighs with relief as it closes down behind the two fo them* What the hell was that?
Kalysto: *lies face down on the ground, panting hard, his body still surging with the rush of adrenalin. He doesn’t answer her for a good whole minute, then makes a slow grunting sound* Don’t know… but whatever it was… would really appreciate it.. if it didn’t happen again…
Desiree: *slowly nods then inches closer to him. After a moment, she slowly reaches down to flip him around so that he’s at least laying on his back. She then leans in to kiss him* Thank you. I know you didn’t have to do that.
Kalysto: *looks up at her* …. *shakes his head and coughs, sitting up* Don’t ever do that again, huh…? *coughs slightly, then looks down at his singed hands* Damn it… *begins to dust them off on his robe* All of that could have easily been avoided if you’d just said no…
Desiree: But I wanted to try out that spell. It was working fine at first too. *sighs then glances at his hands* Shit* Are you going to be alright there? *reaches out to grasp onto his nearest hand* Doesn’t look too bad..
Kalysto: I’m fine, I just wasn’t wearing the protective gloves and got charred. *shrugs* It’s fine. I’ve done worse things to myself. *shakes his head* Just don’t ever do that again. I don’t care what you’re saying, just don’t do it without proper knowledge.
Desiree: *frowns* If no one ever took risks, we’d all be living in caves eating lichen.. *she sighs and nods to the town* Umm… let’s just get your kitten whatever it needs, hm? And you some bandages or something.. *frowns in thought. She then telepathicly transmits to him what she did see*
Kalysto: Lichen? That’s not even the plural term for… *pauses* Oh…. right. Cave mold. *shrugs* My hands will be fine in a day or two. Fast healing, I’m an elf. *moves to his feet* What do you want from me?
Desiree: Huh? I didn’t say I wanted anything from you.. *reaches out to grip onto his left arm, avoiding his hands for now* Come on, let’s get your kitten the things she needs. It probably won’t take long. *she begins trying to lead him toward the town*
Kalysto: It had better not… *glances down at his arm, then follows her, shrugging* You’re completely missing the point… completely. I’m really dissapointed and I don’t know what to say. *glares hard at her and stops* But don’t… EVER. Open something like that again. Did I warn you, or did I not warn you?
Desiree: *Frowns at him* Well, I would happily take guidance, but no one gives a shit enough to bother with that. You just tell me “no” or “you can’t do that”. How am I supposed to learn stuff by your rules when no one cares enough to teach me?
Kalysto: You just don’t get it, do you? You think being taught will make things better? Look, if you’re inexperienced and fucking around, perhaps you shouldn’t even have the information at all – did you ever think about that one? *scowls* You just don’t hand the lighter over to the brat who’s going to set the house on fire anyway. Show some damn maturity first. All you’ve done so far is say, I want the knowledge, then made rash ignorant decisions that nearly caused disaster.
Desiree: *grits her teeth in frustration* Look, I was doing fine with that last spell until you started to yell at me. I bet nothing would have happened at all if you hadn’t gotten up in arms over what I was doing. A lot of my mistakes are caused when people yell at me while I’m trying to concentrate. None of you have any faith in my abilities.
Kalysto: I bet nothing would have happened if you just listened to me and didn’t do crazy shit like that. Nobody has faith in your abilities because you’re inexperienced. You are supposed to start with small things and work your way up! You don’t just… tear holes in the fabric of reality on your first day.
Desiree: *Glares at Kalysto* This isn’t my first day. I’ve been studying magic for a long time! *grits her teeth* I do know what I’m doing!
Kalysto: You obviously don’t know much, because you have all the inexperience of a newly graduated elf. *flicks his ears back* You want to do well with magic? Start out small and work your way up to the better stuff. Slowly. You think you can tackle the big stuff but you just can’t yet. Why can’t you see it?
Desiree: *Her pupils slit as her irises begin to grow a bright green color, resembling the lifestream* Who the fuck was the one who sealed your demon in that blade of yours? I can do the stuff I try for. I’ve done all the small stuff already. I’m trying to learn the bigger stuff now. *She bares her teeth* You really want to see how much I can do?
Kalysto: For fuck sake, NO. *growls at her* I don’t want you to prove your inexperience even more with a repeat performance of the same shit you just did! Desiree, look. I don’t know what kind of twisted logic runs through your brain, but you’re doing it wrong.
Desiree: If you haven’t noticed, we have a lack of magic casters at all. My mother wasn’t even present for most of my childhood! So, if you’re so concerned with me being inexperienced, why don’t you teach me? *snorts, though her eyes remain glowing, showing her agitation. She then whips around and heads toward the town*
Kalysto: What the hell do you think I’ve been doing? You think I have the same threads of magic as you, though? You’re going to need to find different sources too. Go talk to… *shrugs* Rhyderi. Or Zulmire, he practically IS the elements. The point is, you’re not me. You can’t learn much from me. I’ve tried slipping words of advice in without trying to sound demanding, but you’ve already objected to that. Expand your fucking horizons.
Desiree: I’m not like either of them, Kalysto, and you know that. I have next to no elemental magic. And I don’t worship any form of “light”. My magic and powers have always had an affinity with the astral plane, something you claim to be an expert in. *continues to storm away, moving into the general store after a bit. If Kalysto were to follow, he’d probably get very little reaction from the residents. Partially because he’s been seen before, and partially because with a boy with wings running about, the residents are desensitized to unusual body parts*
Kalysto: *rolls his eyes at her* Of course… I’m the one to go to, but because I’m a big bad jerk who’s holding you back, it’s my fault. *moves after her, grumbling* You want a real expert? *takes out his wand, and hands it to her* Talk to him.
Desiree: *Stares at the wand then frowns* Why would he give me any advice? He barely likes you, let alone me. I’m the one who actually trapped him there, after all. I highly doubt he’s forgotten that. *she then steps into the store* Well, go get the stuff for your kitten.
