Desiree: *Groans and looks up at the ceiling* Centra, you explain it. I don’t have a damn clue how your holographic projectors work! *She then crosses her arms and mutters* And the movie was just getting good too… *She sighs and just waits for Kalysto to get his explanation from Centra*
Centra: As you wish, my lady. *suddenly, a projected image of her chosen human-avatar appears a few feet to the left of Kalysto. She then begins to speak out* My projections are created through a series of nodes spread out throughout every room. From these nodes, I project beams of light, that when they cross, they form the various elements of the projection. Millions of these intersections are utilized to create an entire image that appears to be in three-dimensional space. I can also project particles using energy fields and light them up to form hard-light projections. However, these solid-holograms are only available in limited areas.
Kalysto: *looks up at the projector, then over at Centra, backing up as he sees her appear* What kind of trickery is this? *partially phase-shifts to the Astral plane momentarily to inspect it to see if the owner of the projection is there. He stands there, dissapointed at his discovery. When Centra begins to speak, he listens, but only for a few seconds. He looks up at the ceiling, then around the room, looking for the source of the magic spell. When he finds nothing, he tries to put his hand through the light, scowling in dissaproval* There is nothing special about this. It is entirely mechanical.
Centra: Affirmative. My functions are regulated through the rules of physics and mechanics. The science for producing this effect is rather complex. However, there is little trick to it. *she then turns to Desiree* Is there anything else that I may assist you with, my lady?
Desiree: Hmm? *lazily looks at Centra then waves her hand* No, I’m good now.
Kalysto: Oh, that’s all you needed to say. *shrugs* You didnt need to go off on a wild tangent and blah blah about useless stuff. Just say it in a few words and I’ll get it. *glances at Centra* Is this your servant or something? I’ve heard of mechanical devices being slaves before…
Desiree: Hmm..? *she blinks and shakes her head* No, not a servant… Centra just is.. She runs the systems that maintain the base here. I guess that she kind of serves us.. *she shrugs* She’s programmed to take care of the needs of whoever lives inside of Halcyon. That’s all that I know. *she then stretches, seeming to want to return to watching her movie*
Kalysto: Really? *glances up* I need more of that green stuff you got before. The stuff that tasted horrid, but was very delicious. *rubs his hands together* I think I can moderate it now. All I need is a about two quarts worth of the stuff. Go get it for me.
Desiree: *frowns as she hears Kalysto. She then sighs* You could have said please.. *groaning, she looks up* Centra, pause my movie. I’ll finish it up soon. *she then slides off her bed* Come on, let’s go… though before I get the “green stuff”, I think I’m going to need to check with someone.. *sighing, she scratches the back of her head. She then shrugs to herself before moving down the hall and toward the breach to the lifestream that she had found before*
Kalysto: You need to check with somebody? Whom? Why do you need to pass permission before you can use the energy of your planet? Isn’t it there, readily available and free to everyone for use? What are you even talking about? *follows Desiree, seeming highly curious* Ugh… I need water.
Desiree: *groans at all of Kalysto’s questions. She then shakes her head* No, it’s the life blood of this planet. This planet gets rather grumpy if people try to suck on its life. And there’s these other guys… I’ll just need to quickly let them know so they don’t try to kill us all. *shaking her head, she moves to the opening. Upon reaching the edge of the hole, she glances down then closes her eyes* ~Hey, Cetra dudes. I need to talk to one of you. Can someone come up here?~
*because Desiree is of little significance to the inhabitants of the Lifestream, she does not receive a reply*
Kalysto: Right… the planet gets grumpy? What the hell? *shakes his head* I still think a planet having a conscience is pretty stupid. What’s it going to do, change it’s orbit if it sees a meteor coming?
Sephiroth: *has been looking through archives all day. He rats through discarded documents and whatever is left of ShinRa’s records in amongst the Midgar ruins. He hasn’t come across anything particularly noteworthy apart from a list of employees that used to work for ShinRa. The document case has been raided by other people, so the files are messed up and some are missing. After a time he just takes what he can get and picks up the employee list and begins to go through it, looking for people from Hojo’s department. He scowls at the list of 10 odd names and moves off in search of them, beginning with asking people around Midgar if they have ever seen or heard of people on the list*
Desiree: *grunts in annoyance as she finds that her request was ignored. She then scowls and mutters* Come on.. respond.. *shaking her head, she tries again. This time, she sends a stronger signal* ~Hey, come on. I’m trying to talk to you guys down there. Of course, if you want me to just go and steal all the Mako that I want without your permission, then I will.~ *she glances up at Kalysto* You did bring a bucket, right?
Kalysto: Oh? Right…. *quickly moves off again, returning to Jenna’s storage area. He picks up some vials from the area, then walks back to the Lifestream, gently setting the bottles down beside Desiree* There… that should do it.
*there is a low rumble in reply, and then a sharp crackling noise can be heard as the surface of the Lifestream begins to harden and crystallize over*
Desiree: *Sighs in annoyance as she waits for Kalysto to return with the containers. Once he sets them down next to her, she glances down at them and nods* Yes, I suppose so. A bit harder to get down there than a bucket, but it’ll.. *She then blinks as she hears the crackling noise. So, she turns around to look at the hole. She then loudly hisses* Hey! ~Come on, just let me talk to you guys! I’m not about to suck the planet dry with wine bottles!~
Kalysto: Hmm, got an ice pick? *glances down at the covered hole and taps the surface* You know, this looks like the same stuff that the balls are made out of. Except they are rounded and more dense, if you know what I mean.
*the planet replies with another rumble before falling silent again*
Desiree: *groans in annoyance* ~Come on! I wasn’t about to drain you dry. Please, just let me talk to you. Damn it.~ *she shakes her head and glances over at Kalysto* I live in a tropical climate, why would I have anything like an ice pick? Do you? *she shakes her head then glares down the hole again* ~Come on. Let me talk to you guys. This dude here needs to have some source of magic. He says he’s addicted to magic. Help me.~
*the planet makes no more of a reply, other than the soft crackles occuring around the hole as it fortifies and strengthens the crystalized shielf that it has formed to cover the hole*
Kalysto: Give it up, I guess. Or drill a hole in and tap it. I’d tap that. *smirks at his own comment* Come on, you can find other resources, I’m sure. This one is just the most convenient and lazy. *moves to lean against the wall, not so amused any more*
Desiree: *clutches her fists and glares down at the hole some more* No! The dumb planet is being unreasonable!! *She jumps down onto the crusted-over lifestream and begins to stomp on it* ~This is completely unreasonable! I did nothing wrong. I just asked for you guys to talk to me!! Come on, just talk to me already and stop it with this.. this.. stupidity!~
Kalysto: *stares at Desiree and her tantrum, then shakes his head* Get back. *flicks his hands into the air, beginning a summoning. As the runes form in the air and begin to give off their own light, he glares at her, turning his head off to one side* Get away from it, damn you! *once the summoning is finished, a 7ft tall top-heavy winged demon appears behind the male Blood Elf, looking particularly angry with its summoning*
Desiree: *was still stomping on the surface of the lifestream when Kalysto summons his demon. However, she stop s when she hears him yell at her and looks up at him* Huh..? *her eyes widen as she spots the large demon. She then quickly levitates high up over the hole* I’m just trying to get the attention of the dudes in the lifestream…
Kalysto: *firmly* And you think jumping around and throwing a tantrum will really help you? *glares back at the demon* Rorsch’monde, smash it open. Then break through and give whatever’s down there your worst.
*the demon begins to bitch in Demonic about being ordered around by a mere mortal but because it’s being bound and controlled by Kalysto’s magic, it can’t do much. So it obediently charges ahead and begins to smash it’s giant clawed hands into the crystal, roaring in anger. After a few moments it breaks through and sinks into the liquid, releasing a baleful laughing sound once it’s in the liquid energy*
*the planet responds in kind with a threatening rumble and one of the spirits inside contact Desiree immediately* “What in the world are you doing to us now?!”
Sephiroth: *finally finds some information about one of Hojo’s old aides in the files he has been carrying around, a male underling by the name of Dr H Howlett. He soon gets some vague information from a few people in the ruins of Midgar, then leaves the city, bound for Junon now* *”It shouldn’t be much longer now, Jen…”*
Desiree: *stares wide-eyed as the demon smashes through the encrusted lifestream. She then whistles* Wow… That’s defeinitely some power there. *She shrugs then narrows her eyes as the spirits finally contact her* ~I was trying to talk to you guys, sheesh. You guys didn’t need to cover up the hole like that! I was just going to mention that this dude has a condition where he needs magical energies in order to operate properly. I wanted to ask for permission. The nice way.~ *crosses her arms and snorts, even though Kalysto has no idea that she’s having a telepathic converstion*
Jenna: *is still asleep, so she doesn’t respond to Sephiroth at the time*
*the spirit seems angry with her question* “You’re blatantly asking if one can feed on the life blood of the planet!? Certainly not! We have never allowed such to happen. Why should we? Now go away from here at once, and take your foreign monster with you!”
Kalysto: Well, it smashed through. What now?
Desiree: ~Please, just hear me out. This guy.. he says he was born with an addiction. If you can give me a suggestion of another source to quench this thirst for magic, then tell me. But I’m certain that a pint of mako a day isn’t going to kill the lifestream.~
*the spirit seems angrier* “The answer is no! We do not allow anything to feed on our lifeblood. Anyone who takes from the planet in such a manner is an enemy and will eventually be destroyed. There is no agreement. There never will be. I suggest you kill the addicted one immediately before more problems arise.”
