Dr Jansen: *walks away from Kerash’s office, not hearing her. He spent the next few hours investigating the reported incident that he had enquired about with Kerash, ending up ruling in the teacher’s favour and reprimanding Sephy for his slacking off. He had made him sit another test in place of the other one he had been doing, and had made it twice as long as before. He also cut the boy’s privelages much to his dismay, making him go to sleep an hour before he was due to for the course of a week. As a result the boy grew to dislike him, but it did not cause him to hate the man.*
The next week was fairly event filled compared to some previous weeks in the past. Sephiroth met up with some older augmented humans from the Spartan project to spar and fight them, very quickly learning just how much more training he would need to do.
There would time to learn that however. He was stuck there for at least another two years.
Kerash: *watches over Jansen during the next few months, insuring that his actions are in line with what she desires for the head of the Jenova Project research department. She also takes action to insure that the man is leading the project in a way that would maintain the same direction that she was leading it in. She frequently gives him advice as to when to take action and when to leave the boy be, and discusses the best strategies for keeping the other scientists in line.*
*Finally, after nearly a year has gone by and Kerash’s health has deteriorated in ways that her sickness cannot be hidden, Kerash determines that Jansen has become qualified enough to move on ahead with this project without her direct involvement. So, she calls a meeting for the beginning of the morning, indicating that she’ll be in a bit late. However, she expects all members of the staff to be present by 10 in the morning.*
*One of the female aides knocks on Sephiroth’s doorway and coughs* Come on, it’s time for us to go. They want you present with everyone else today. Finish getting ready already, Sephiroth.
Sephiroth: *is busy combing his damp hair properly and looks up at the female attendant, sighing* Why do they want me to be with everyone else today? It’s just a bunch of fancy red tape and blabbering. Really, I’ll just go there and they won’t have anything interesting to say…
Dr Jansen: *files into the room, carrying several important documents with him for reference in case questions are asked. He adjusts his tie properly before he sits down at his place in the conference room*
*Several other attendants and physicians are also beginning to file in*
Lisa, the Aide: I’m sorry, but it was requested that everyone is present. *glances over at the small infant in the room* If you want, you can take him as well. Not that it matters whether he hears or not. I’m certain that Micheal won’t be able to understand one way or another. *takes a step back and waits for Sephiroth to finish up*
Micheal: *Is currently deep asleep in his crib. He makes a mild fussing noise in his sleep, but for the most part, he’s silent*
Sephiroth: *glances back at the infant, then peers over the crib to look down at him* Nah, he’s sleeping. If he’s doing that, best to leave him be. I’m sure one of the assistants can care for him if he wakes up and needs something. *sighs an heads out of the room* I’m done. Tell me, how many other children were born at the same time as him?
Lisa: I’m sorry, Sephiroth, but I am not privy to that information. I can assure you that more than a dozen have been born from you as of late, but for more details, you’d have to ask one of your supervisors. I only make food and make certain that you come to appointments on time. Now, come on. *grips onto his hand and pulls him toward the meeting room*
Kerash: *walks into the meeting room not long after Sephiroth is brought inside. Her steps have considerably slowed in the past few months and she has her head lowered instead of held high in a cocky manner. In addition, her raspy breath can be easily heard. She walks toward the front of the table and leans against it. She looks around to insure that everyone is present then nods toward Jansen*
Sephiroth: *sighs at her* Don’t worry about it, ma’am. *continues to let her hold his hand simply because he’s trying to be polite* Are you coming with me? Or are you going back to caring for the others? *frowns* Howcome you’re not allowed to tell me about my own children? That doesn’t seem fair. *walks into the room, quiet as he steps inside*
Dr Jansen: *nods his head at Kerash and opens his file, placing several pieces of paper on the desk in front of him*
Lisa: I’m sorry, Sephiroth, but I don’t know the information. That’s what I meant to say, they didn’t even tell me. I basically only take care of you and the boy that they’ve roomed with you so far. There are a few other ones in this lab, but I’m more than certain that you’ve seen them in the lab from time to time by now. As for the rest, they are being held elsewhere. *stops once they enter the meeting room then gently nudges Sephiroth forward*
Kerash: *turns her head to loudly cough then slowly straightens up. After taking a long deep breath, she begins to softly speak in a raspy voice that has been worn down from all her coughing* Thank you for coming. I am officially announcing my retirement today. I have evaluated Jansen here for the last year and he has passed all my tests and proven himself ready to take on the reigns of this department. *pauses for a moment then begins to cough once more*
Sephiroth: *sighs* That’s silly. *moves inside the conference room, taking his place at his chair towards the front of the room on the side lines. He is dead silent as he listens to Kerash make her speech, and raises his eyebrows as he hears people around the area complain and mutter at Kerash’s announcement. There is no outright objection however*
Kerash: *regains her composure after a short bit and looks around the room before nodding* I am glad that I have had the chance to work with all of you for these past few years. You are all devoted and intelligent. I am certain that you will continue to work on this project with the same amount of devotion and enthusiasm under Jansen as you have with me. *gives Sephiroth a short glance then nods to Jansen* Director Jansen, would you like to tell them anything?
Sephiroth: *just sits there, staring at Kerash. He’s only just now realizing how old she truly looks now, and lowers his head as she catches his stares* *”Noemi, I fear Kerash’s time is almost up… she’s handing the department over to Doctor Jansen now…”*
Noemi: ~Huh?~ *yelps as she almost crashes the plane that she is driving in the simulator due to the distraction Sephiroth just gave her. So, it takes her a few moments to regain control over the simulator then properly respond to Sephiroth* ~Her time is almost up..? How bad does she look right now? I know that you’ve mentioned that she is sick.~ *the tone in her communication would indicate that Noemi is quite disappointed in the news*
Sephiroth: *”Her head’s lowered… she’s coughing and her voice is hoarse. She’s lost a lot of her colour. If she was scaled, they’d probably be flaking off her…”* *sighs* *”But yeah, she’s handing on her authority to Jansen now.”*
Dr Jansen: *stands up* Thank you, Kerash. Now… I hope you have a restful retirement, and I only hope that I will be able to live up to your expectations. This project has expanded with all the new arrivals and I sincerely hope that this place will run as diligently as it did when you were in charge.
Noemi: *deeply frowns. Her flying pattern becomes more erratic as she thinks of how sad she’ll be without knowing that Kerash will be around* ~Oh.. Well, does she at least look content or something like that? I’d hate to hear that she’s suffering because of all of this.. You’re not too troubled by Jansen taking over, are you? I’ve not dealt with him too much during my stay there.~
Kerash: *nods* Yes, I am certain that you’ll do a fi- *pauses before releasing another torrent of coughs. She soon recovers though and looks at the others in the room* Is there anyone who wishes to say something?
Sephiroth: *”He’s alright I suppose, but I’m going to miss Kerash. Sometimes he raises his voice a bit when I’m not paying attention to him, or when he thinks I’m not paying attention to him. And he’s rough when it comes to injections. He’s in charge, but he’s still one of my doctors… I’m just afraid he’ll turn into another Hojo or something…”*
Dr Ericsson: Yes, me. *stands up* There are Inconsistencies in the new management. New subjects in the Jenova project are each being given different treatments and different environments. While some have been isolated, one has been favoured and placed in with the older subject. *folds his arms* How can this project be run properly with the varying treatments? We’re running a science project here, not a socializing day care center.
Noemi: ~I’m certain that this Jansen guy won’t turn out to be just like Hojo. He’s probably young and not quite ready for his new position. Give him time, Seph, and give him a hand by not acting up so much. I’m certain if you don’t make things hard on him, he’d settle down some. If not, and you see signs of him becoming an egomaniac like Hojo.. Well, here, let me tell you what Kerash told me in the past on how to contact the board and report abuse.~ *sends Sephiroth the contact information via her implants* ~Don’t abuse this knowledge though.~
Kerash: *scowls at Ericson* Well, despite your horrid sense of a goodby notice, I will answer your question for the hundreth time, doctor. *coughs then snorts in irritation* We need not repeat the same thing over and over again now that we have multiple subjects. Now is the time for variety to test various conditions and theories, not for pure copying. Sephiroth was the control, now is the time for the true experiments.
Seferia: *shows up in the doorway to the meeting room. She chooses not to say a word and simply looks at Kerash, waiting for the raptor to finish up so that she may do as was requested*
Sephiroth: *”I never act up. I just try to get my way.”* *nods as he’s given the contact information* *”Thank you Noemi. I won’t abuse the information.”* *keeps his head down throughout much of the discussion, not wanting to meet the stares of much of the science team in the room. However, when Seferia shows up, he glances up at her and grins, seeming happy at the fact Seferia is back to give him another chance at proving himself in a real fight*
Dr Ericsson: That’s nonsense. There’s not much more we can subject those children to. If you try going overboard with the variations, you will end up killing more of them. We have a tested and tried formula, we should be using that instead.
Noemi: ~What I mean, Sephiroth is that you need to consider letting go on having things your way so much for a bit. Give in to him just a bit until he’s fully adjusted so he doesn’t panic and start loosing his temper. You are a handful afterall.~ *senses his happiness* ~Hey, what’s happening now?~
Seferia: *narrows her eyes at Dr. Ericsson, not liking his attitude then decides to quickly strike. She moves with rapid fast percicion and sneaks into his psyche with her mental powers. As soon as she’s in his mind, she begins to trap him into a mental illusion and disables him within a illusionary world full of his fears and anxieties* Annoyance. *turns her attention to Kerash* Are you ready? I do not intend to wait all day. *her voice is rather bland and emotionless since she normally speaks telepathicly and is not used to vocalizing her thoughts*
Dr Ericsson: *flinches as some of his fears are brought to his concious mind and he puts his head down on the table, making soft panicked noises as he loses touch on reality*
*some of the other occupants in the room stare at Dr Ericsson like he has gone crazy. There are mutters among them immediately, and some begin discussing voting him to a lower position of power next meeting*
Sephiroth: *”Oh it’s nothing really, Noemi. It’s just that Seferia is here. I’ll be able to fight a real fight for once. I didn’t do too well last time, but this time will probably be better.”*
Kerash: *looks up at Seferia and nods at her, then turns her attention to Ericsson and deeply scowls* Someone check up on that man and find out what is wrong with him. *swishes her tail and feins ignorance even though she had heard Seferia’s statement quite clearly and had deduced what had occurred. Then, she looks at the others on the table* Is there anyone else who wishes to comment before I depart for good?
Seferia: *walks further into the meeting room. She passes behind Ericsson, none too concerned for his psychotic breakdown then stands next to Kerash, waiting*
Noemi: ~That’s strange. They normally give you notice before they have you battle against someone. I don’t recall you mentioning Seferia earlier..~ *Frowns in thought* ~Are you certain that she’s there for you?~
Sephiroth: *”Actually, you’re right… she normally warns me in advance or something.”* *glances over at Kerash and Seferia, noting how she’s moving towards Kerash, deciding to contact the dragon via telepathy* *”Excuse me, but why are you here today? Are you here to escort Kerash out, or are we going to have a sparring session soon?”*
Dr Jansen: *Bows his head to Kerash* I do not have anything else to say, other than to wish you well in your final years. I hope you end up doing something that pleases you.
*some of the other doctors surround Dr Ericsson, and begin discussing whether or not he should be psyche-evaluated*
Seferia: *doesn’t bother even turning her head to look at Seph, though she gives him a quick glance out of the corner of her eye as he contacts her. At first, she doesn’t say anything in response, but eventually, she speaks to him* ~I am not here to spar with you. It is not the time for that. No, I am here to pick up Kerash and grant her dying wish, to see her family again then to die.~
Kerash: Yes, of course.. *coughs and stands up properly. Slowly, she walks over to Seferia’s side and nods at the dragon. Soon, she is moving toward the doorway, intending to leave. However, just before she walks through the doorway, she turns around to look at Jansen* If you want to test the boy’s abilities, have him remove Seferia’s manipulations over the loud mouthed Doctor Ericsson. Farewell.
Noemi: ~Well, I guess they could have changed things about. Humans seem to like quizing others when they are taken off guard.~
Sephiroth: *curiously tilts his head as he watches Seferia and Kerash begin to depart from the room, knowing full well he’s being nosey now* *”You’re going to grant her dying wish? What is that exactly?”*
Dr Jansen: *slowly nods his head* It will be done soon enough, Kerash… *bows his head to her as he watches her depart* Farewell, my old friend.
Seferia: ~I already told you what that is, human boy. I am not going to repeat myself. If you do not have the attention span to actually listen to what is told to you, then you do not deserve to be told anything.~ *accompanies Kerash out of the room*
*one of the lab assistants slowly moves up behind Ericsson and tries to grip onto his shoulders so that he can be escorted out of the room* Jansen, sir? What did Kerash mean by “Seferia’s manipulations”?
Sephiroth: *scowls at Seferia and turns his attention away from her, highly insulted by what she has just said*
Dr Jansen: *shakes his head* She did not mean much by it. Seferia just knows how to manipulate minds. I’m more than sure you are already aware of the details. If you are not, go bring up Seferia’s file and read it so you will understand exactly what the details are.
