Holly: *quietly* Well it certainly smells better… *eyes Kalysto off warily and speaks even more quietly* ….why is he wearing a green dress with rug print on it…?
Kalysto: *even though he is still serving the other customers, his ears flick in aggitation, having heard Holly’s comment. He does his best to ignore this though, and continues on with picking out certain types of leaf from his vat* You know, if you’re after the medicinal pain killing properties of this… I still say you’re better off with the sandlewort. *heads behind his counter to finish off collecting leaves, bundling the small paper bag in paper before handing it to them, receiving payment* See ya.
Jenna: *Releases a soft chuckle before shaking her head* No, that is not a dress. It’s a garment that is traditionally worn by magic users, called a robe. Such garb holds a certain amount of prestige, though… *Shrugs* As for why that one looks like a rug… *smirks* Well, that’s one for him to answer. *She then steps up toward Kalysto as she watches his customer’s leave* I need to ask you to do another favor for me.
Kalysto: *glances up at Jenna* Yeah, what do you need help with? *tosses his earnings into the till, then closes it up* Please don’t tell me you need another dress alteration. *dusts the flakes of herbs off his table*
Jenna: *she waves Holly over before nodding toward the other woman* This girl… She needs a new terms of employment. My son, Zach, found her in a whore house, and I will not permit her to return to that lifestyle. So, I wish to ask you to give her some form of purpose for the time being by hiring her.
Kalysto: *stares at the woman, then at Jenna, wondering if she’s being serious or not* Hiring her for what? *deeply frowns* Isnt that kind of like, I don’t know… slavery? *leans over the counter* Not to mention, humans don’t exactly make me very happy.
Jenna: No, I didn’t say enslave her. I said hire her, give her a job. As help. *she then narrows her eyes* Well, you are very involved with a human, so you need to get used to them. *Snorts at him* Please, just do this much. Have her keep the place clean… maintain your stock. Anything.
Kalysto: *grumps lightly, then turns away to consider Jenna’s stement* I don’t really need an assistant. *glares back at Jenna, harumphing* Besides, Desiree is not a human. She keeps reiterating that herself.
Holly: *meekly lowers her head* I’m sorry to be a trouble….
Jenna: *sighs and glances over at Holly before narrowing her eyes at Kalysto* Yes, Desiree isn’t fully a human; however, she is quite close. *she then steps closer toward the elf* I’ve stood in this shop while you touched up my dress. You simply won’t be able to serve people properly on your own. I’ve seen it. *snarls* Give the girl a try.
Kalysto: God. You should run a recruitment centre. Walk up to a potential employer, say, hire this person NOW. And kick their ass until they concede. *shakes his head* Can’t I even give her a trial run? *folds his arms* I don’t know this person. How do I know how credible they are as a worker?
Jenna: *Groans in frustration before planting her face in her right palm. She then glares at Kalysto* I don’t know what this means in your language, but “give this girl a try” means to give her a trial run. *frowns at him* As I said, my son found her in a whore house. She needs help. So, don’t expect excellence.
Kalysto: *gives Holly another glance, then shrugs* Yeah, OK. When do you want her to start working? *eyes her off, clearly not happy about the idea* How about, um, opening time tomorrow morning? I open sharp at 8:00am.
Jenna: *reaches back before she nudges Holly over toward Kalysto* Well, I can’t answer that stuff for you. You’re going to need to tell him if that is alright. *eyes both Kalysto and Holly, trying to determine how much tension there may be between the two of them. She then backs off to allow Holly and Kalysto to negotiate the rest on their own. However, she does linger in order to give Holly support*
Kalysto: To be honest, I need more work in my garden than the actual sales point here… *narrows his brows* If you know how to work a shop register, have simple mathematics skills and can count, I could use you quite often to run the sales itself. Which frees me up to spend more time in the garden outside of the house… *continues to mumble and reason through the process, coming up with a viable working arrangement for Holly’s work schedule*
Holly: *seems not very enthusiastic about working under somebody else, but accepts the offer anyway*
Jenna: *silently watches over the two for a while. Finally, she moves toward the doorway* It seems that things will work out. *nods* I am not needed here any longer. *she then frowns* ~Kalysto, please keep in mind that I rescued her from a whore house. That means that you need to treat her with more care than most.~
Kalysto: *”She’s not like, a glass statue. She’s not going to shatter in my hands or anything. I’m not going to treat her like cotton wool just because you say so.”* *gives the human a rather stern look, then folds his arms* Yeah, come back at opening hour tomorrow morning. 8am. Sharp.
Holly: *meekly nods*
Jenna: ~Her personality might as well be glass. I’ve watched her. For now, she’s very fragile, mentally. I’m certain of it.~ *she then glances back at Holly* I’ll escort you home, girl.
Holly: *gives Jenna a very gentle, yet courteous bow of her head* Thank you, madam.
Kalysto: *gruffs slightly* *”Are you sure she’s going to be able to handle this? Customers can be bitches. I’d be afraid of her bursting into tears the moment somebody says something nasty to her.”*
Jenna: ~Give her some time and stay with her as you train her. If she doesn’t seem like she can handle it after a decent amount of time, then just tell me and I’ll tell Zach.~ *frowns at Holly* You don’t need to call me madam. *snorts* Not that I’m going to deny that I’m old, but it definitely makes me sound old.
Kalysto: *smirks* Madam. *chuckles lightly, then begins trying to wave them out of the shop* See you at 8am tomorrow morning, sharp. Now get out of here, I got work to do.
Holly: *meekly nods and heads to exit*
Jenna: *narrows her eyes* ~You don’t want to test me and see how many “curses” I’ve learned that you can’t even imagine yet.~ *She then nudges Holly before she heads back home*
Kalysto: *”Want to learn more? Warlockery and the Big Book of Curses, on my shelf at home. Go ask Desiree for it, and I’m sure you can imagine how many I know.”* *yawns* Shoo.
Holly: *stops, nervously watching Jenna before quickly following her back to the house*
Jenna: ~As I said, I know many more in ways that you can’t even imagine yet, boy. I have a few hundred years on you, and I had the largest library that existed on Earth. Though I can’t remember some of it… No matter.~ *pats Holly’s back, trying to assure her* If you want, go to Zach. You don’t need to stay by me.
Kalysto: *”Seriously, Warlockery and the Big Book of Curses by Phyronymis Flamestriker. Aside from the fact that it’s funny that a lot of these books were written by ‘fallen mages’, there’s shit in there you won’t know. Trust me on that one.”*
Holly: Zachary is at work…
Jenna: ~You are assuming that I have only studied from one school of magic there. Don’t be so foolish. I can use elemental, dark, and some “holy” spells. I have tried it all and do not back down on any. However, I do not remember some years of my life, so some of the knowledge is lost..~ *chuckles at Holly* Yes, but he probably is due for a lunch break soon. You can go to him.
