Jenna snorted at the very thought. “Seph, we already have enough enemies that I care not whether or not anyone new will be coming after us. We can handle anything they send at us. You know that.”
“Yes, we can. But our offspring are far more vulnerable and less immortal than we are.” Sephiroth stated in a calm voice. “Or did you forget that? The best way to really upset your enemy is to attack and harm the ones they love. I believe I informed you about this very very early on in our union, yes?”
As Jenna coldly narrowed her eyes, the color of her eyes darkened. “Hrmph, yes, I am aware of that, Seph. However, unlike you, I have actually experienced such loss. I know that lesson quite well. Thank you.”
Without saying another word, Jenna vanished from Sephiroth’s side, teleporting to her home.
Sephiroth watched Jenna teleport away. He lowered his head and quietly sighed before he teleported after her. He appeared at the doorway of the house and walked inside. *”I wasn’t implying anything… I just wanted to minimise risk, that is all. Why did you get upset?”* He folded his arms.
Jenna didn’t even bother looking back at Sephiroth as he communicated to her. Instead, she stalked off toward the bedroom so that she could remove her tarnished clothes.
~I am not upset. I just want to be home. That is all!~
Sephiroth lightly shrugged his shoulders and decided to leave Jenna to her own devices. *”Understood.”* If she was angry, it would give her time to cool off. He sat down on the lounge and grabbed the TV remote. If Jenna wanted to come back and talk to him, he would let her do it on her own terms.
Jenna hastily tossed her clothing into a pile near the doorway before she ventured off to take a shower. Thus, for the next twenty minutes, the sound of running water echoed from the master bedroom. Once Jenna was clean, she dried off and immediately moved to curl under the covers. She had no desires to find Sephiroth and speak to him. At the moment, all she cared about was sleep.
Sephiroth remained downstairs and watched TV. With Jenna upstairs and doing her own thing, he had little reason or motive to interfere with her. When it became late, he headed upstairs and stripped down to his underwear for the evening, before he moved to climb in his side of the bed so he could lie down and sleep.
Not long after Sephiroth climbed into the covers, Jenna shifted to wrap her arms around his waist before she pressed up against him. The woman released a contented sigh. Even though she was deep asleep, she was more than happy to have her mate with her again.
Meanwhile, on the following morning, Desiree pinched Kalysto’s left ear in order to wake him up. “Get up, you have an appointment today.”
Sephiroth grinned to himself as Jenna moved to press up against him. He moved an arm around her protectively and began to drift off to sleep, himself. “Good-night, mysterious lady.”
Kalysto would not respond other than a low groan and an ear-flick, trying to make Desiree release his ear from her grasp. He did not like having his ear pinched and soon made it known by trying to bat Desiree’s fingers away with his hand too.
Desiree deeply frowned as her husband continued to sleep despite her attempt to wake him. So, she stepped away from the bed to gather a glass of water. Upon her return to the bed, Desiree flung the water at Kalysto’s head.
“I said time to wake up.”
Kalysto made a girlish shriek as Desiree doused him with the water. He was jolted to a sitting position and began to cough slightly. After a brief moment, he glared hard at his mate before he moved out of the bed altogether.
“What the hell was that for?” He hissed. “I could have woken up on my own.”
“You needed to get up, Kalysto. We need to leave in an hour so that you’d be on time for your appointment,” Desiree crossed her arms as she glared at the elf. “I’m not letting you slip out of this one.”
Kalysto moved out of bed so he could head into the bathroom and dry himself off. “We have a whole hour? Why don’t you wake me ten minutes before we’re due to leave, then? God…” He began to grumble. “In an hour, I could shower, eat breakfast, and even concoct several small experiments. What a waste of time! I could be sleeping!”
He shut the door behind him and stripped down so he could take a shower.
Desiree rolled her eyes before a wicked smirk formed on her lips. “Or, you would spend half an hour in front of the mirror as you put on your make-up to look all pretty!”
Chuckling, the girl turned to strip the now wet sheets off the bed.
Kalysto yelled back to Desiree from inside the shower recess. “I don’t WEAR make-up, you know that!!” He made some upset sounds and continued on with his shower. After about ten minutes or so, he got out of the shower and began the process of drying himself off. He did a half-assed job of it before he tossed a bathrobe on and walked back out into the main bedroom area.
“Silly woman…” He muttered to himself. “I do not wear make-up…. under normal circumstances….”
Desiree simply chuckled to herself as she removed the sheets, allowing Kalysto to have his shower in peace. Once he exited the bathroom though, she turned around to listen to his muttering. A wide grin formed on her lips at the things that he was saying. She knew that her statement would most definitely ruffle his feathers.
“Oh, but you look so dark and mysterious with your mascara, eyeliner, and eye shadow,” Desiree purred out as she began to put on clean sheets onto the bed.
“Shut up!!” Kalysto snapped at her. “You’re supposed to be supportive of me, not trying to make fun of me every five minutes. Get out of here and just go away if you’re going to be like that. I don’t want to hear it!”
He made a huffy snort and moved over to Desiree. He grabbed at her arm and tried to pull her towards the door.
Desiree chuckled at Kalysto as he grabbed her arm. However, rather than complying and allowing herself to be tossed out of the room, she reached over to grip onto him in turn. Soon after, she applied her strength to pull him in toward her so that she could kiss him.
“Oh, but I am supportive,” the young woman whispered to Kalysto. “I love all of you.”
Kalysto’s eyes flashed momentarily with wildness and rage. He struggled against Desiree’s grasp, at least until she pulled him in for the kiss. He relaxed slightly and returned the gesture, though he stiffened up relatively quickly once again and resumed his struggling, though with less enthusiasm as before.
“Cheap… cheap moves… that’s so not going to work.” Kalysto grumbled. Despite this, he finally relaxed anyway. “I don’t wanna go.”
“You’re going, Kalysto,” Desiree replied firmly as she finally let go of him. “We can’t afford to have more mouths to feed. Unlike my mother, I don’t have a hidden fortune thanks to hundreds of years of living. So, you’re going.”
Desiree reached up to pat the top of Kalysto’s head. “Now, get some clothes on.”
“Can’t we just mooch of her fortune…?” Kalysto groaned as he rubbed a towel through his wet spikey hair. “Why can’t we just steal her money or have her send it to us?” He began to feel grumpy. Kalysto stood there, butt naked, arms foldded. He dropped his towel onto the floor in the action, leaving him very exposed. “I make money through the potions and alchemy supplies shop too you know!”
“That doesn’t mean that we make enough money to handle supporting more than four children, Kalysto,” Desiree rolled her eyes at her husband. “Even if we stole money from my mother, do you really want to handle the insanity generated by more children? No, you’re going to this appointment.”
Kalysto began to whine again. “Just go back on the birth control pills then, OK? It’s going to hurt, and…. then I need to take a day off so I can keep my balls on ice.” He snatched his towel up off the floor. “I don’t want to do this…. it’s going to suck.”
“I’ve been on birth control,” Desiree frowned at Kalysto. “You know that. It failed. This won’t. So, you’re going through it. You’ll be fine.”
Desiree shook her head as she took the dirty sheets downstairs. Once she put the sheets in to the washer, she went into the kitchen so that she could prepare a quick breakfast for her and Kalysto.
