Seizing the opportunity, Rhyderi knocked her down completely with his elbow. Once down on the ground, he moved over her, growling as he leaned on-top of her back. “Still think I don’t know anything?” He snorted. “You’re mistaken.”
Seres snarled in frustration as she realized that she had lost. After shooting an irritated glare at Rhyderi, she shoved him off of her before she staggered to her feet. She gripped onto the side of her head as she left the ring.
Meanwhile, a slow steady clapping resounded from the doorway to the eastern entrance to the cage. Jenna had slipped into the cage and was applauding Rhyderi, though there was no actual enthusiasm to her praise.
“One might think that was impressive,” the sorceress calmly commented.
Rhyderi swung around to face the source of the noise, narrowing his brows when he saw Jenna. “Get out.” He glared at her. “I suppose I’m fighting you next. I need another five minute to recover.”
He headed for the exit. “This whole thing was a bad idea…”
“Hrmm…,” Jenna narrowed her eyes as she looked over Rhyderi. “Very well, I shall humor your request. Come back in five minutes. However, I should warn you that your bad shoulder will be liability either way.”
Rhyderi hissed in frustration at Jenna’s taunt, shrugging as he took a seat just outside of the cage. “How did you know about that? Did you read my file?” He stretched out in the chair and put his head down on the table once more.
~Actually, no, I don’t need to read a file at all,~ Jenna simply stated as she leaned against the cage wall and awaited Rhyderi’s return. ~You have been favoring your left arm and shoulder. Not to mention, the muscles in that area are tense. It’s very easy to figure out.~
“Hrmph…” Rhyderi shook his head at Jenna’s assessment. He didn’t much like what she was saying, but he hardly had grounds to deny it. The Paladin merely shrugged his shoulders and sat there, fully intending to waste the five minutes he had been given.
Once the time was up, he quietly rose to his feet and headed back towards the ring. “This ends now.”
“Silly elf,” Jenna replied as she straightened her stance and moved into a ready position. “Of course this ends now. This is the final match. Such a boorish thing to state.”
The sorceress shrugged her shoulders as she moved her right hand out to wave him toward her, beaconing him to come and attack.
“I shall give you but one warning. Do not think that I am unrestrained or unfocussed in my technique.”
Rhyderi rolled his eyes at her, refraining from commenting. He was used to seeing many attitudes while sparring and Jenna’s was nothing new to him. He simply shifted himself into a battle-ready stance, waiting for Jenna to be ready.
Then he charged at her, hands balled into fists, attempting to slam her with his left shoulder, swinging a right-hook punch in the same movement.
“Always the upper body…,” Jenna softly commented as Rhyderi charged to her. Thus, she decided to do the unexpected and allowed herself to drop to the floor to avoid the strike. As she dropped down, she pushed herself back up into a semi-hand stand as she swung her legs out to latch onto Rhyderi’s waist with her thighs. Once she felt like she had a grip on him, she twisted her body so that she could abuse his own attempted swing in order to unbalance him and send him to the floor.
Rhyderi tried to back up but momentum was not on his side. He found himself in a vice-grip, and then on the floor. He did not care though, and sprang back up to his feet, shuffling his feet as he raised his fists, going back in to attempt to punch Jenna in the face, swinging first the left, then the right fist at her.
Jenna slid out from Rhyderi as he thumped onto the ground before she handsprung back onto her feet. As Rhyderi swung at her, she deflected his first punch with a combination of a circular movement of her arms as well as a spin of her entire body. She then gripped onto the bicept of his other arm.
“Upper body again? How can you expect to defeat anyone when you are so unbalanced in soul and body? So much turmoil,” the woman whispered to Rhyderi as she used to momentum of her dance-like spinning to yank his arm in an attempt to dislocate the shoulder. As she finished the yank, she let go of Rhyderi and finished off with a spin-kick to the elf’s back.
Rhyderi howled in pain as his arm was grabbed. He heard a distinct popping sound as the joint dislocated, and felt a sharp pain lance through the upper half of his right side. He staggered backwards, stars clouding his vision. The next thing he knew, he was on the ground.
He merely reached over to grab at the shoulder, curling up in pain.
Jenna walked around Rhyderi before she knelt down in front of him. As she looked over him, she shook her head.
“Boy, you must learn to be at peace with yourself if you want to be a successful fighter. You fight with such fury and anger, but you are not at peace with who you are. That weakend you more than your arm. Once you learn balance of the soul, you will have balance of the body.”
After speaking, she gently wrapped her arms around Rhyderi’s chest so that she could escort him out of the ring.
Rhyderi initially swatted his only working arm at her, though in the end he was in too much pain to care. When escorted out of the ring, he tried to move away from her altogether, wanting to stagger away and crawl off to find somewhere he could recover.
~Stop that, you are no enemy of mine,~ Jenna scolded Rhyderi as he swotted at her. ~I respect you as a fighter. However, errors are errors. You cannot think that you can get away with them.~
Jenna attempted to continue to escort him so that she could take him to the medic that was stationed at the bar due to the fights.
Rhyderi gritted his teeth, lowering his head. He was in a great deal of pain and his ego had been bruised quite badly – to fail in front of so many of his peers was a rather crushing blow.
He finally conceded and allowed Jenna to escort him wherever she intended to.
Jenna knew enough about men to not question that his ego had been hurt. Still, she brought him to the medic so that his arm could be taken care of. Once he was in the man’s care, she stepped away to give Rhyderi and the medic space to work.
Rhyderi was ushered into the medic’s area and hopped up on the table. He lay down and promptly raised his left arm up, covering his head, resting his elbow over his eyes. He lay still and resisted all desires to yell in pain or cry as his right arm was slowly rotated, twisted, and popped back into place.
When his arm was tucked up in a sling, he was allowed to leave, and he quickly retreated, heading out of the bar entirely.
Jenna shook her head as she watched Rhyderi hurry on out of the bar. However, she had done her part in making sure that the elf received medical attention. So, she felt no need to chase after him. Still, she did hope that he would find it in him to inquire about what she had told him. Though she doubted that day would come any time soon.
