Dimitri nodded at Zach’s suggestions, for he didn’t feel like staying up late anyway. So, the boy slowly pushed himself out of the bed. However, since he was a bit dehydrated and had been laying down for quite some time, he stumbled a bit upon getting to his feet.
Zach moved over to Dimitri and placed a hand on his shoulders, pushing him back down to a sitting position. “Easy there, big guy.” He told him. “Don’t get up so suddenly. You’ll regret it. Also, you haven’t eaten anything all day. You’re likely to get all dizzy and stuff.”
He shook his head. “Take your time, recuperate a bit and then get out of here. I’ll work on your papers.”
Dimitri visibly pouted, for he didn’t want to stay around much longer at all. However, he didn’t feel much like face-planting on the ground. So, he just flapped his wings in a defeated gesture before he looked to the side.
As Zach left to take care of Dimitri’s paperwork, the boy looked at Edgeworth once more. “So… did you get your car back?”
Edgeworth sighed and shook his head. “No… it will be in quarantine for at least a few more days. As will our office at work. You are not expected to do anything until you recover and even then you should be going back to school at some point.”
“We’ve got our work cut out for us right now, it seems.”
Dimitri scrunched his nose at Edgeworth’s words before he visibly pouted and looked to the side, “Miles, I’ve told you before… I don’t go to the schools around here. Mother set me up with private tutors. I usually do my school work when on break. I’m perfectly fine.”
“I can not approve of that at all.” Edgeworth stated with a very obvious frown. “You do not learn any social skills through being on your own. You may not want to interact with other people or be around them, but how can you hope to succeed in a job that relies in-part on your ability to socialise with others?”
“You need to attend a real school.”
Dimitri grumbled, “I’m in the ShinRa building and socializing there… Doesn’t that count?”
Shaking his head, the boy tried to stand again, because he really wanted to get out of there. He spread his wings out in order to help him keep his balance.
“Can we go yet?”
“Not exactly. You aren’t very much socializing with people in the business environment. You still need to attend a school and socialize with people your own age. Common interests, that sort of thing.”
Edgeworth shrugged as he continued. “Can you relate to others in your own age group? What would you do if one of them came up to you asking if you wanted to go skateboarding? Or buying a soda from the local convenience store?”
“Yeah, get the hell out of here.” Zach chuckled. “You’re gonna feel horrible until that medicine metabolizes the rest of the poison though.”
Dimitri scowled at Edgeworth’s line of questioning. Shaking his head, he grumbled, “I’ve been to the schools here. They like stepping on my wings and all that. I refuse to go back.”
He then nodded as he heard that he was allowed to leave. So, he moved toward the exit. Though, he continued to fan out his wings in order to help him keep his balance.
“Anyway, it’s not like you know how to skateboard, Miles..”
Edgeworth glanced at Dimitri, then glanced away. “I know how to ride a skateboard.” He stated rather simply. With that, he followed Dimitri towards the exit, popping his cell phone latch open so he could call for a taxi cab to take them home.
Dimitri paused to look over Edgeworth for a moment, not really believing his statement. Still, he just shrugged before he muttered, “I don’t need additional socialization. I have much more than either my mother or father had..”
As Dimitri moved out of the hospital, he leaned toward Edgeworth, partially because he wanted some form of support.
Edgeworth sighed as Dimitri leaned against him. The gesture was innocent enough so he was not pushed away. However, the prosecuting attorney remained there, allowing the small amount of contact between them.
Within the next few minutes the taxi had arrived and he parted from the younger male to climb into the vehicle.
“Come on. Do you need a ride back to your house?”
Dimitri muttered, “Your house is closer…”
Honestly, Dimitri didn’t feel much like staying in his actual house any more. Not only was Edgeworth’s house larger, but it was less crowded. There was definitely no Cancer around to wake him up with yelling and screaming. Not to mention, it did have Edgeworth in it.
Still, the boy didn’t voice this much. Instead, he just shrugged before he climbed into the taxi. For the first few moments, he took some time to wiggle about and try to find a comfortable position for his wings. During this time, he would have accidentally whacked Edgeworth at least a few times.
Miles Edgeworth didn’t seem to care terribly much when he was whapped with the wings. When Dimitri finally settled in the taxi, he relaxed. The drive back to his house didnt take very long and it was cheap so he gave the taxi-driver a nice tip before exitting the vehicle again.
He walked back to the front door of his house, banging on the door. He knew Phoenix was still house-sitting in his absence and would be there.
Edgeworth was right. Phoenix came rushing to the door to unlock it, grinning like mad. “You’re back!” He looked over to Dimitri. “And you’re OK? Oh good… you looked half-dead before.”
Dimitri happily stepped out of the taxi, more than glad to be relieved of the cramped quarters of a vehicle’s interior. As he stepped out, he stretched his wings out to full legnth, though this made him stumble a bit.
Upon recovering his footing, he moved after Edgeworth to follow him into the house. However, he paused as Phoenix greeted the two of them. Frowning at the man’s words, the boy looked at the ground before he kicked a small pebble.
“I was half-dead…”
“Well, um…” Phoenix hesitated, looking confused. “Glad to see you’re not dead any more? Congratulations I guess.” He clumsily thrust out his hand for Dimitri to shake it, not knowing what else to do in this kind of situation.
“Well the house is fine,” He went on to tell Edgeworth. “I watched your TV but there was nothing good on. Not even that show about the chef who likes to flip burgers. You know the one that burns stuff on his live TV show? The one you like to laugh at? Yeah, him.”
He stepped aside. “Come on in. Do you have visitors over? I noticed somebody was using the guest bedroom because the bed wasn’t made.”
Dimitri stared at Phoenix’s hand, not really used to such a gesture at all. Instead of reaching out to take the hand, he just shrugged before he muttered, “Well… I’m glad too. It wasn’t pleasant.”
He narrowed his eyes as the defense attorney babbled on. He really didn’t think that Edgeworth needed Phoenix’s permission to enter his own house. However, since Phoenix was Edgeworth’s friend, the boy held his tongue.
Soon enough, though, he slipped into the house so that he could get off his feet.
“Hey, do you guys want food? That pizza place down the road from us is doing a sale tonight. 3 Pizzas for like, cheap. And you can get whatever you want on them. I really like pepperoni pizza so something like that is a good deal for me. I buy three of them and put the other two in the fridge, then eat them when I don’t have time to make something.”
He grinned, closing the door behind Dimitri and Edgeworth once they had come in. “So, pizza?”
Dimitri stared up at Pheonix as if the man had just developed a second head. Shaking his head, he looked over at Edgeworth before he stared at Phoenix anew.
~Phoenix… I really don’t think that Miles eats cheap food. I’ve never seen him eat anything that wasn’t of some level of quality.~
Phoenix blinked in confusion. He looked at Dimitri, then at Edgeworth again. “You think pizza is cheap food? It’s really good.” He picked up a brochure to show off. “See, look. High quality ingredients, any toppings you want, really good melted cheese…”
“What’s cheap about it?”
Edgeworth sighed as he sat on the lounge. “If you really want to order a pizza, Wright, pick up the phone and do so…” He was too tired for this sort of thing right now.
Dimitri glanced at the brochure for a moment before he quickly turned his attention to Edgeworth. Once the man stated that Phoenix should just order the pizza, the teenager nodded and glanced at Phoenix once more.
“Yea, go ahead and order. Pick out anything.”
With that said, Dimitri moved to sit down next to Edgeworth on the lounge.
Phoenix happily grabbed the phone and dialled the pizza place, ordering three pizzas, one for everyone. He picked them out based on what he guessed that the others would like. Then he took a seat on one of the chairs nearby and relaxed, sighing.
“So nothing is going on now huh?”
Dimitri tried to lean against Edgeworth, hoping that sort of contact was permitted. As he did this, he relaxed on the couch, for he was more than glad to be out of the hospital and not feeling horrible. When Phoenix sat down near to them, the boy glanced at him before he shrugged.
“Miles needs to prepare for a pretty big trial. It’ll probably be tough. I know that Seferia is a psychic and can read thoughts and all that…”
Phoenix blinked. “Seferia? Oh come on, she’s respectable. She’s going to defend those poor dragons that are practically being kept in chains just because people think they’re dangerous. Have you even talked to them?” He shook his head. “Talk to them, what do you want to prosecute them for? All we want to do is set them free.”
Dimitri stared at Phoenix before he quickly shook his head. “You’ve actually met her? She barged into Edgeworth’s office earlier on… I don’t really like her. She doesn’t seem to have much emotion at all.”
The boy then looked at Edgeworth before he frowned at Phoenix. “Anyway, those dragons started this war.”
