Edgeworth glanced around the room, folding his arms at Jenna shortly afterwards. “Well if you can just do that, why didn’t you… you could do the whole building.” He sighed. “Very well. I hope you have any ideas, because I cannot think of many avenues for investigation at this current point in time.”
“Asking the detectives won’t get anywhere. They keep evidence under lock and key. The only avenue I can think of to begin is from the letter itself – if the criminal wasn’t smart, it would have a return address on it.”
He scowled shortly afterwards. “Or… the return address is on the envelope because they want us to find them.”
November 2, 2010 at 6:18 am #48935SeferiaKeymasterJenna rolled her eyes at Edgeworth before she turned to face him.
“The reason I don’t just cast a spell to clean up this entire building is because such would be a waste of magic. Also, casting high level spells can actually kill me. So, I’d rather not cause myself pain just to clean your little building here,” Jenna sharply explained. “I do not like you enough for that.”
Snorting, she turned around once more to lead Edgeworth out of the building. “As for where to start, how about the avenues in which one would have to take to buy such items, hm?”
November 2, 2010 at 6:23 am #48936Kat AclysmKeymasterEdgeworth hissed. “That could be anywhere. It would have been off-shore – there’s nowhere you can get anything like that on this island. Beyond the restaurant, ridiculous herbal remedies and supermarkets, all that we have on this island is the ShinRa Building.”
He frowned at this thought. “Though unlikely, we cannot rule out the possibility of an inside-job.”
November 2, 2010 at 6:32 am #48937SeferiaKeymaster“No where, you say?” Jenna chuckled at Edgeworth’s assessments. “My, you take a lot of stock into the official records, don’t you? Think outside of the box, boy. If someone was to want to import something and keep it off-the-record, where would one go where there is easy traffic, hm?”
November 2, 2010 at 6:43 am #48938Kat AclysmKeymaster“The docks, of course. It’s the only way things ever get onto the island. I wouldn’t put it past somebody to take a payment on the side to ignore an illegal shipment…” He sighed. “I suppose we should ask around there first…”
“I must also get the letter out of the evidence room.” He glanced to the door. “It’s locked and under tight security.”
November 2, 2010 at 6:45 am #48939SeferiaKeymasterJenna calmly stated, “I’m immune to anthrax and have no finger prints anyway.” To highlight this fact, she brought up her clawed fingers and clanked them together. “I’ll go look at that silly letter though I doubt it’ll garner much.”
Jenna looked around. “Just tell me where to go.”
November 2, 2010 at 6:58 am #48940Kat AclysmKeymasterEdgeworth peered out of the doorway. “Did anybody see you come up?” He said in a low voice. “Two floors down, in the same area and location as this office…”
“You didn’t hear that from me.” He stiffened his posture and stepped away to resume dusting what wasn’t there any more.
November 2, 2010 at 7:12 am #48941SeferiaKeymasterJenna glanced down before she shrugged. “Yes, people saw me come up. However, that doesn’t mean that they will see me go there. Wait here.”
With that, the sorceress turned to leave the office. After several minutes, which were mostly spent with Jenna being invisible, she returned with a digitally scanned copy of the letter on one of the tablets that she preferred to use. She then handed over the tablet to Edgeworth.
“Definitely not Seferia.”
November 2, 2010 at 3:12 pm #48942Kat AclysmKeymasterEdgeworth glanced at the digital scan, looking it over for a return address. He eyed it off for a brief moment, nodding.
“This stamp has a frank-mark on it. Run it through the post-office and see where it was mailed from. It also has a time-stamp. Perhaps we could even see surveilence video footage.”
November 2, 2010 at 3:15 pm #48943SeferiaKeymaster“That’s something for your detectives to do,” Jenna plainly stated. “That is not something that I do. Now, are you ready to move it or not? You are supposed to be good at spotting inconsistencies in stories. Or has my son over-exaggerated that part?”
November 2, 2010 at 3:25 pm #48944Kat AclysmKeymasterEdgeworth visibly bristled at Jenna. “You just stole their evidence and you’re telling me to send it back to them for analyzing??” He thrust the tablet back at her. “Do you want my expertise or not? If you do not want to do things my way, then why did you remove me from my work?”
November 2, 2010 at 3:29 pm #48945SeferiaKeymaster“Because, as I said, I need your assistance,” Jenna took her tablet before it literally vanished from her hand, since she sent it back into subspace. “Follow your avenues of the letter as you wish. However, for today, you are coming with me.”
With that said, the woman reached out to clamp her hand on Edgeworth’s arm before she began to drag him toward the door. Even though she was a few inches shorter than him, she wasn’t exactly a weakling.
November 2, 2010 at 4:20 pm #48946Kat AclysmKeymasterEdgeworth frowned as Jenna dragged him out the door. “If you will not even persue the clues on the only line of evidence we have… what DO you plan to do, exactly?” He was glaring now. “Run wildly into the unknown?”
November 2, 2010 at 4:34 pm #48947SeferiaKeymaster“I was already at the docks gathering some information.. via avenues that you wouldn’t take,” Jenna coldly explained. “However, I’ve hit some road blocks. So, you will assist me.”
Jenna had no intentions of letting Edgeworth get away with not helping her. So, she kept her grip on him as she moved out of the building.
November 2, 2010 at 4:37 pm #48948Kat AclysmKeymaster“So… you should have said that in the first place. You implied that you had no avenues to explore. Hence why I suggested the envelope… and the return address. And the postage franking-mark.” He folded his arms. “Why don’t you just tell me what you want to do instead of having me waste my time?”
November 2, 2010 at 4:39 pm #48949SeferiaKeymasterJenna turned her head to glare at the man. Snorting, she let go of him before she jabbed her right index finger against his nose, though she made a point to not slice his nose with her clawed finger.
“You were the one that suggested that there were no avenues to investigate. I hinted to you that one should check out the docks since that is where the black market is. I had thought that you were smart enough to take the hint.”
November 2, 2010 at 5:19 pm #48950Kat AclysmKeymasterEdgeworth waved a hand at her. “Fine…” He frowned. “Go ahead and lead us there. You apparently have a better idea than I do of what needs to be done.” He gave her a very stern frown, shaking his head.
“If we are heading to the docks, I am going to change into something somewhat less…” He glanced down at his burgundy suit, also flicking at his frilled cravat. “…conspicuous.”
November 2, 2010 at 5:21 pm #48951SeferiaKeymaster“Heh, and here I thought you believed that outfit didn’t stand out at all,” Jenna quipped at the lawyer before she shook her head. “Very well, you may change as you see fit. I take it that you need a ride, huh?”
November 2, 2010 at 5:34 pm #48952Kat AclysmKeymasterEdgeworth scowled. “Yes, I need a ride, unless I can hail another taxi. The first one up here was awfully expensive. I can’t see you the type to do such a thing either. My car is in for fumigation until further notice.”
He folded his arms. “A lot of unecessary mess. Lead the way.”
November 2, 2010 at 5:35 pm #48953SeferiaKeymasterJenna snorted in a haughty manner before she made her way to the street. Even though she had walked there, she simply cast a spell to teleport a sports car of her choosing into an open space in front of her before she opened it up.
“Get in, boy.”
November 2, 2010 at 5:57 pm #48954Kat AclysmKeymaster“I am not a boy,” Edgeworth huffed at Jenna, his posture stiff. “I am a legal adult and I have a law-degree, thank you very much.” He moved to the passenger-side of the car, frowning at how expensive it was. If it had been red, he might have asked her if he could have it when they were finished.
November 2, 2010 at 6:31 pm #48955SeferiaKeymasterAs Jenna climbed into the black Ferrari, she tilted her head to look over Edgeworth with a critical eye. After a few moments of inspection, she looked at the road again.
“What are you, only early twenties? Hrmph, you’re still very much a boy. Even more-so to me. I am over two centuries old,” Jenna stated.
Soon after, she buckled up into the car before she shifted the car into gear to jet off toward Edgeworth’s house. One thing was quite clear with Jenna’s driving habits, she loved speed.
November 3, 2010 at 2:19 am #48956Kat AclysmKeymaster“People don’t live that long naturally.” He stated matter-of-factly. When the car rocketted off, he gripped onto the door handle. “The oldest anyone has ever lived was 122 years.”
“I am an adult,” He continued, his tone turning to one of irritation. “In every sense of the word.”
November 3, 2010 at 3:22 am #48957SeferiaKeymasterJenna snorted at Edgeworth’s assessments on her age. However, she didn’t bother fighting against it. Instead, she continued to drive to his dwelling. Once there, she parked the car in the street before she looked at him.
“Well, go ahead and change your clothing as you see fit.”
November 3, 2010 at 4:18 am #48958Kat AclysmKeymasterEdgeworth frowned as the car was stopped outside of the house. He glanced at Jenna for a brief period, then down at his pockets. “While we are here… may we make a detour and come back? If so, I need to step out for a few moments.”
He took his cell phone out of his pocket, glancing at Jenna once more. He popped the phone open and stepped outside, calling his own house number. He hoped that Dimitri was still inside, and awake.
