Edgeworth shrugged, still feeling unhappy and very self-concious about everything that had happened recently. He headed into the kitchen and began to make some tea, sighing.

“Do you have your antibiotics? You might want to put them in your bedroom, if you plan to stay here tonight. It has been a long day so I would understand if you do not want to go home to your especially loud family.”

Dimitri grinned as he was offered the choice to stay for the night. He then quickly nodded his head before he piped up, “Thank you, Miles. I appreciate it. And yes, I have the antibiotics.. They’re really big and look uncomfortable.”

“They do, but you need to take them.” Miles shrugged. “You do not want the bacteria to get an advantage and infect you.” He glanced at the kettle, then back at Dimitri. “Tea? I have Earl Grey, Rooibos, Peppermint, Chamomile, and regular white English tea.” He looked at the containers he had near the kettle, frowning as he looked around for the ones he had imported from India just last week.

Dimitri tilted his head as he mulled over his choices for a few moments. After a bit, he looked back at Edgeworth before he responded, “I think I’d like to have some peppermint today, Miles. Thank you for offering.”

He then glances toward the large window that he had climbed through earlier. He looked it over for a few moments, making certain that there was no damage before he looked at the floor.

Edgeworth nodded his head and made up a strong cup of Peppermint Tea for his protege, carrying the two cups into the living room, setting Dimitri’s down nearby him, sitting on the couch with his own cup, sipping on the rim delicately.

“Now that we have time to think…” He said quietly. “Who do you think would try to kill me?”

Dimitri stared up at Edgeworth, having expected the man to speak about the topic that the boy had brought up earlier. However, he didn’t bring up his confusion. Instead, he drifted his eyes down to his tea before he took a sip of it.

“Who would want to kill you? Probably lots and lots of people. You’ve sent a few people to jail by now… So maybe one of them? Or… Well, Seferia was in your room before we found that letter. However, from what mother told me of her and her group..”

Edgeworth seemed very aggitated. “If they want justice to be done, that is a poor way to go about it.” He glared off to one side, disbeliving of the fact that somebody would even dare to obstruct justice by killing him.

Dimitri quickly shook his head. “I really doubt that it was Seferia, Miles. Mother told me a lot about her, they are enemies after all… And well… I’d imagine that if Seferia wanted you dead, she’d just kill you.”

“Charming.” Edgeworth stated in a flat tone. “With evidence like that we can remove her from this case entirely and get somebody far less biased.” He nodded slightly. “All we would need is her written statement and some other evidence. It would be simple.”

Dimitri stared at Edgeworth before he muttered, “But Miles.. Is that a wise idea to do against a high-ranking member of an enemy military force..”

Dimitri bit his bottom lip as he considered what he knew about Seferia. Soon after, he looked up at Edgeworth once more.

“She’s like the main general of a very big army, I know that…”

Edgeworth was glaring at Dimitri now as if he was the enemy also. “Anybody who makes threats does not deserve sympathy or any regard.” He folded his arms. “I wouldn’t care if she claimed to be the head of a government. You do NOT make threats and obstruct the law.”

Dimitri frowned at Edgeworth’s words, still not certain what to think. He then shook his head.

“I don’t want to cause more death because of stubbornness, Miles… We don’t even know that she did anything to our mail. Her statements earlier made it sound like she intended to meet you in court..”

He sighed as he looked into Edgeworth’s eyes. “if making someone angry causes more death, should you really do something to make them angry?”

Edgeworth glared back at Dimitri even harder. “I cannot believe we are having this conversation. Just because somebody is in a position of power, it does not give them the right to be a lawless tyrant. If they want to take the law into their own hands and do just that – become a lawless tyrant, then they must be dealt with in the harshest manner.”

He moved to his feet, picking up his tea cup. “We are not going to discuss this any further. If you want to even consider that it is fine to pervert the course of justice, then you can get out of my house.”

“What?” Dimitri stared wide-eyed at Edgeworth as the man scolded him once more. He then quickly shook his head. “No, Miles. I just think that you should let her do whatever defense she’s planning. I mean, it looks like she wants to meet you in a legal battle. Don’t you have things in your background that make people say bad things about you? She hasn’t actually done anything that we can prove as any malpractice for her side in this case…”

Edgeworth banged a fist down on the table nearest to him. “If her defense is to mail more suspicious envelopes to her competition, then she doesn’t have a right to be among civil order!” He glowered at him. “You’ve already mentioned that there is some evidence against her. If it can be proven that she has done harmful things, she will be disbarred and not allowed to represent anyone.”

“This is a serious breach of the legal system.” He shook his head. “You absolutely cannot represent others if you are guilty yourself!”

“But Miles, I don’t think she mailed anything to you,” Dimitri attempted to reason with the lawyer. “According to what my mother has told me about Seferia and her queen, the two operate on a strong sense of honor. They also demand that their foes show honor as well… That means if she wanted you dead, she would have outright declared it then gone right for the kill.. The letter thing just doesn’t sound like something that she’d do… from what I heard.”

“Oh, so everything you’re saying is baseless conjecture? I don’t want to hear it, then.” He scowled, moving back to the kitchen to dispose of his tea in the sink. “I’m not going to stand around and discuss what may or may not be with nothing to back it up.”

Dimitri sighed at Edgeworth before he shook his head, “Of course it’s baseless conjecture, Miles. I’m not psychic like my father. Even if I was… I don’t think he’s that sort of psychic. I just don’t know who sent that letter. You asked me who I thought could be guilty, I gave a guess.. That’s all.”

Dimitri then tilted his head to watch Edgeworth move about. “Do you still want me to get out…?”

Edgeworth glared heavily at Dimitri and slammed his tea-cup down, breaking it. “This is not my day.” He sighed, moving away to get a dust-pan and broom to clean up the mess.

“No,” He said angrily, “I said that if you even wanted to consider that there was ever a time to pervert the course of justice, then you can get out.” He glared. “I’m not going to spend years of time educating you on something you can just side-step and not bother with.”

Dimitri flinched as he heard the tea cup shatter. Frightened, he released a soft whimper before he curled his wings about himself in a defensive maneuver.

“Of course I don’t want to pervert justice. That’s why I was asking you not to condemn the dragon without any evidence or proof…”

“I never said I was going to condemn a dragon without any evidence or proof – why are you misconstruing my words? I made myself perfectly clear when I spoke about that. Did you just not hear what I said about it?” He finished tidying up his mess and tossed it into the garbage.

“I dislike reiterating what I have already said when I made myself perfectly clear the first time.” He hung the dust-pan and broom back up on the wall-hook he had gotten it from. “Learn to listen with more care, or you will not be able to catch a guilty party out in your career.”

Dimitri frowned in frustration before he muttered, “I was listening. You were talking about having her removed from the case…”

He then sighed and got up before he moved to put away the tea cup that he had been drinking from. Soon after, he moved in to help Edgeworth clean up the bits of that had shattered on the ground earlier on.

“Go…” Edgeworth waved a hand at Dimitri as he tried to think. “Go do something with yourself. Go to the study and go read the book about fair proceedings.” He was more than irritated with the conversation by now.

“I want to go do some personal work.”

Dimitri pouted as Edgeworth blew him off like that. Shaking his head in irritation, the boy continued to clean up before me moved into his designated bedroom. Once in his room, Dimitri climbed up on his bed before he spread his wings out in order to stretch them out.

As he stretched out his wings, which had become stiff from the cold air in the hospital, Dimitri stared up at the ceiling before he sighed. He didn’t know what exactly he did to get on Edgeworth’s bad side. He never even got an answer as to where they stood.

Edgeworth spent the rest of his evening writing in his diary, mostly making personal notes for the next book he planned to write. Being in the new territory and establishing a new world order had inspired him to record some of the things he had been through already, and he wanted to make a book out of it.

Thus, Dimitri was left to his own devices as Edgeworth wrote into the evening, stopping only once he was ready to go to bed for the evening.
