Jennah: Don’t worry, she’s just nervous of the new enviroment. I’m not hurting her at all. That noise is just her vocalizing her fear, not her pain. *glances at the shampoo* And yes, I believe that smell is part of the anti-parasite chemicals. Though it may also be a fragrance that the makers put in to cover the chemicals as well. I am not an expert on how they make cat shampoo, so I can’t say for certain. *continues ot firmly hold onto Cairo* Tell me when you’re ready to do her stomach. I’ll flip her over.
Seph: *spends a few moments placing the shampoo in Cairo’s back fur and her tail areas* Okay, flip her over. Though, I really must warn you, I don’t think she’ll like it at all. I held her on her back a few times, the first thing she tries to do is flip back over.
Jennah: *nods at Sephiroth’s statement* Yes, I imagine that she wouldn’t particularly love being flipped over onto her back. That is a vulnerable position. Still, we can’t not clean that part of her. *lifts Cairo up then cradles her in her arms so that the kitten is sitting in a vertical position with her stomach exposed but not on her back* Hopefully this will help keep her calm.
Cairo: *continues her loud objective mewing noises and turns her head, trying to turn herself the right way up again. Soon enough, with her fidgetting, she gets soap in her eyes and begins to wail*
Seph: *deeply frowns* She sounds really unhappy about it.. *is quick about washing off the kitten’s belly area and legs, rubbing the cat shampoo in thoroughly, but also doing a fast job of it because he doesn’t like the noise the kitten is making* Quick, rinse her off and turn her over. She sounds miserable.
Jennah: *nods at Sephiroth* She’s just afraid. In time, she’ll get used to things like this. For now, she’s young and afraid. *sets the kitten back down on her feet, but still in the water* Now, you need to rinse her off. It is probably not an advisable action to have her lick off the soap. I assume that you should be gentle about it so that you don’t scare her further or hurt her.
Seph: No, I wouldn’t want her to lick the soap. I’ve tasted it before, it’s not very nice to taste. *lightly splashes Cairo over and over again, trying his best to rinse the soap out of her fur* I hope she does get used to it. *pauses* Can cats swim? It’d be funny if she could paddle around in here and actually like it.
Do note: the answer that is about to be given has been substantiated by me bringing the two cats into the middle of the pool then placing them down while standing next to them. They swam straight out, but they swam.
Jennah: Yes, cats can swim. But it may be hard for you to convince her to find swimming to be a fun activity. There are only a few cats who actually enjoy swimming as an activity. *Shakes her head* At least, that’s what I heard. *watches Seph rinse off Cairo then gently lets go of the kitten as soon as she notices that there are no more visible soap suds*Nah, standard response. I’ve seen dogs do that in backyard pools.
Cairo: *immediately heads for the edge of the spring and sits down near the bank, shivering, petrified of her experience with the water. She sits there and shakes herself off for a moment, then begins to lick her sopping wet fur*Seph: *frowns* I would like for her to enjoy the water, but there’s not much I can do about it if she doesn’t… *sighs and watches Cairo shiver* She can’t be cold that fast.
I was just telling you how I confirmed that cats instinctively know how to swim. It was quite funny to watch them rush to the side of the pool and climb out.
Jennah: Do not worry too much, she’ll be fine. As soon as she realizes that the rocks around the room produce heat, she’ll lay on one of them and heat up that way. *reaches down to pull off her gloves so that she can cleanse herself off* Now, go ahead and clean yourself off, Seph. You deserve to smell good again after so long. *dips under the water and swims to the middle of the spring*Seph: Alright then, thank you mother. *places the cat shampoo on the bank, then picks up a cake of soap, washing the accumulated grime off his skin. He scrubs off the top layer of dead skin on his back and seems rather pleased after doing so* Yuck. I am very filthy afterall…
Cairo: *continues to shiver, then heads for warmer ground, nearby the heating rocks. She continues to lick herself dry, standing as far away from the water as possible*
Jennah: *chuckles at Seph’s assertment of his condition* Well, I could have always told you that you are a naughty and dirty little boy, Seph. *grins* Especially since I’ve given you the ok to watch porn movies. How often is it that you watch those movies daily, hm? *playfully grins and shoves some water toward Seph in order to splash him*
Seph: I’ve been out in the wilderness for a few days, mother. I can’t really tell you how many I watch a day, because you only just started letting me watch them. And I’ve not been here, so… *shrugs* I don’t like some of them. Especially not when it’s two males trying to get it on with each other. The butt is an exit only. *frowns and screws up his face*
Jennah: *shakes her head at Seph before moving up behind him. Once there, she reaches over to playfully tickle him* I was only teasing you, Seph. I know you’re not that depraved. *smirks at him* And I am quite glad that you do not like those homoerotic shows. It’s less than natural for you to desire to have sexual intercourse with a member of your own gender, especially since the mechanics do not work.
Seph: *loudly chuckles as he is hugged* Mother!! *screws up his face and pokes out his tongue* Yuck! I’m not going to go put my genitals up some idiot guy’s butt! I’m not even interested in that stuff. Besides, it looks like it would hurt… *deeply frowns then shivers slightly*
Jennah: *chuckles at Sephers* Yes, I’ve heard rumors of it causing bleeding and other problems. *nudges him* Just finish cleaning yourself off, Seph. You need not worry about these sort of things until you’re much older. Then, you can find tons of attractive females who would leap at you. I just know it.
Sephiroth: I’m not really interested right now. *finishes washing himself off, then swims under the surface of the water for a few moments to ensure all the soap is truly washed off. He comes up again in the deep part beyond his depth, snorting slightly to get the water out of his nose* I’m more interested in learning, and being a competent hunter. Though I doubt those things would help a male provide for his offspring in the ‘developed’ world.
Jennah: I’ve been teaching you more than enough to be able to easily integrate with the “developed world”. *releases a loud snort in distaste* I’d say that we have much more technology in this base than the humans will have for centuries. But why do you just want to be a hunter? A hunter on its own only gathers food. *shakes her head* I think you should aim a bit higher, Seph.
Seph: A bit higher than being able to hunt for my own food? *frowns and splashes off his face, moving back to the shallow water. He glances over at Cairo, whom has moved onto the rocks and is already half dry* What do you think I should be aiming for? I can’t really think of anything. Being a scholar sounds dull. I don’t want to work in any mathematics job. I wouldn’t make a very good scientist – I hate them very much. What do you think I should do?
Jennah: *sighs at Seph* I don’t know.. I guess you’d make a good warrior if you ever tried to be one. Maybe even a hit-man if that is your fancy. *Shrugs* I just think planning on being a hunter on its own would not give you much to aspire to. Hunting isn’t that hard once you get the knack for it.
Seph: Neither is the other two things you just mentioned. Being a hit man is risky, and I don’t really like the guns associated with some people. It’s not a very nice thing to deal with…. *frowns* A warrior? Whom would I work for? *shakes his head* Let’s face it, the ‘developed’ world hasn’t got need of any of those things.
Jennah: Well, I suppose if you want to become a warrior, you can fight by my side. *Shrugs* Though I’m certain that Earth has pleanty of uses for very smart young men who know how to fight and use weapons. *chuckles at a thought* In the least, you could try out for a starring role in those Kung-fu movies that you love so much.
Seph: *pokes out his tongue at Jennah before he gives himself a final rinse-off, stepping out of the spring* No way, mother. Those movies are fake. They’re fun to watch, but they’re not real. Besides, I don’t want to get thrown through glass windows, or stuff like that. *heads for the towels and begins to dry himself off* Much better. *pauses* I’ll think of something, but I’m only twelve. I’ve got years before I have to decide what path to follow. Wouldn’t you agree?
Jennah: Yes, you are right, you have pleanty of time to decide. *picks up some shampoo and cleanses her own hair* All I wanted was for you to aim a bit higher than simply being a hunter/gatherer. That was the occupation of the tribal humans. You are smart enough to do much more than they did.
Seph: *wraps the towel around his waist once he is dry enough. He moves over to the rocks, picking up Cairo and cradles her in his arms. He chuckles as she immediately begins to purr and lick his belly with her sandpapery tongue* I don’t know what to do with myself, but some of the other ideas seem a bit obselete I’m afraid.
Jennah: *Rinses off her hair then gets out of the spring. She walks up to the towels and begins to dry herself off* Well, you could always decide to be an animal trainer. *smirks at Sephiroth* You do well enough with them. In the long run, your future is bound to be much better than what it would have been with ShinRa in control of your life.
