To buy or not to buy

I have been a Sonic fan since my early years.  However, as with most other sonic fans, my feelings for the series have wavered with years of…  not so fun games.  Hence, I have come to a point in which I am not so certain of myself when looking at Sonic games.  Sure, I’ve bought some horrible ones in the past, but do I want to continue doing this?

Coming up shortly, in just a few days, I will have to ask myself that question again, for Sonic 4 will be available for X-box live or the PS3.  I think I’d buy it for my X-box, even though I need more space on that hard drive (but that’s another matter).  However, I don’t know if I’ll buy it at all.  While it does look like a step in the right direction, the feeling of speed seems a bit diminished.

Thus, I shall have to ponder over this issue.

Notes for myself

Sorry, this is going to be a boring post. However, this is my personal blog, so I’m allowed to have boring posts to myself. I’m just saving some armor combinations that I am plotting out.

Squee!

I completely adore Little Big Planet.  I supported it from the first day I set eyes on it.  Sackboy and everything else in it are such adorable creations that I cannot deny their awesomeness.

Hence, upon finding that Sony plans on releasing this:

LittleBigPlanet 2 Takes November With Adorable Collectors Edition

I found myself in a total state of bliss.  I don’t care how much that set will cost me, I want it.

Almost time for Starcraft

Well, within the next few weeks, I shall finally have my hands on Starcraft 2 and all the critters that come along with it. I’ve had this game pre-ordered since early last year, so I am more than glad that it is finally coming out.

However, I might not be able to fully enjoy the game until I get my new computer finally built. As it is, I’ve just been nabbing parts here and there. I have a case, a monitor, a power supply, and a sound card (yes, I know that isn’t needed, but I prefer having improved sound for my surround-sound speakers) in the bag. Within the next two months, I’ll go into full gear and buy the rest of the items.

So, for now, I think I’ll have to hope that Starcraft runs fine on my laptop. To date, my laptop hasn’t had many issues with games at all. So, I think I should be perfectly fine with that set-up.

Of course… I am so going to suck at the game. Heh. I’ve never been great at being patient for resources.

Yay for nostalgia!

I grew up in the 80s, that is a fact. I think 80s cartoons was a golden age, that is an opinion. I continue to watch cartoons even in current times, that is a fact. So, I can fully say that there are some sucky 80s cartoons out there as well as some great current generation cartoons out there. I will admit that my belief that the 80s held a golden age status is only my opinion and could be clouded with childhood memories.

Anyway, for the reason such a strange topic came to my mind: While randomly searching through the bowels of the internet out of boredom, I decided to look up Denver, The Last Dinosaur.  I will not hesitate to state that this show was cheesy, but hey, watching it for fun harms no one.  Also, I really hope that more of my childhood shows show up in this manner.  These are not shows that I really feel the need to gather box sets for.  Not only would box sets take up space, but they would cost both me and the studio that releases them money.  To be honest, I don’t think there’s a good market out there for these silly titles, but there’s enough of us that will go looking for ad-supported free streams.  I’m certain it can be done.

In other news: if you like music, if you like games, you must get Beat Hazard.  This is one of the great games that have come out of the indie scene.  It is still new at the moment, so there’s some tweaking that needs to be done.  Still, this is a game that I won’t hesitate to suggest to the masses.  It simply is a blast.  Also, all my music kills me!

Lastly, I’m still waiting for my Monster Hunter Tri!  Oh, I probably could have gotten it earlier if I had gone with gamestop or something, but I support Amazon.  Le sigh, at least I have time to work on my backlog while I wait for it.  Once I get it though..  Monster, look out!

Oh, the great mind of greatness

Yes, I think that we have a winner here.  A pure example of brains and cunning.  So great that the tale will be shared for weeks to come.  Perhaps his name will go into the history books under brilliance.  Yes, indeed.

In all seriousness, if you’re going to try to steal something, why would you go ahead and happily admit it to the officials?  Then, bribing the authorities in hoping of “getting out of it”..  Yea, I can’t even process the right words to describe this man.

However, Justin D. May, I must admit one thing about you.  You most certainly are crazy, dumb, and brazen.  If anyone is playing Modern Warfare 2 now and reading this, please try to hunt this man down and laugh at him.

I personally don’t own Modern Warfare 2.  I’m also not in a position where I can attempt such a feat.  However, I still think this guy needs to be laughed at.

At the very least, he has his fifteen minutes of fame.

Well, this basically encompasses most of my own thoughts

Well, Gametrailers has finally come out with the review of the recent Pokémon game.  I can’t say that I disagree with their sentiments at all.

While this series is rather solid and effective at performing the tasks that it sets out to accomplish, the games are fundamentally hurt by the repetitive tasks.  This series has never required much thought, you might as well turn off your mind while playing the game.  There is no real challenge unless you are going against another live player.  This has been true since the first game that came out.  The games also need to branch out in more ways than just adding new moves and creatures to collect, seriously.

If GameFreaks can follow through and actually innovate in this series with the next installment, I’ll be floored.  For now, I shall continue to tell everyone these two facts: you can survive the game by hitting a total of five buttons (up, down, left, right, a); and that if you’ve played one pokémon game, you’ve played them all.

Despite my harsh words, these games are not horrid.  They just need to reinvent themselves.  I also have not explored all the side-games that are related to this series.  However, I cannot honestly considered the spin-offs to be innovation for the actual series.
