To the blog writers out there

Please, for my sanity, use your words to make points and statements. It can’t be too hard to write commentary when writing a commentary right? I mean, when a person is writing a blog post, one would think that they are writing something, right?

I had the misfortune of having a friend link this post to me not too long ago. Now, this person was mentioning how the article was reopening the gamer girl debate or something like that. However, I could care less about that little detail.

Instead, I tried to read it to find what exactly was stated to make any form of controversy. Sadly, I couldn’t properly finish the task because the author of the article put minimal effort into their words. Outside of the opening few paragraphs which introduced the supposed subject, which one is to assume that there are contradictions in gamer culture when it comes to females, this writer barely wrote any further words.

Sure, the images could theoretically tell some form of story somehow. However, the way that this article handled is simply atrocious. I personally wound find it beyond careless to give any reader a single sentence then a bunch of images without my interpretation as to what that was supposed to mean. However, that is how this article is structured. First, the writer presented a supposed rule, then they, what I assume, brought images to both support and discredit the rule that has been arbitrarily made. However, without the input from the author, it is left to the reader to come up with an interpretation as to what this all means.

So, it is no shock that there are people who are commenting without any comprehension as to what was “stated”. The author took the lazy route of speaking their mind, so nothing was actually stated. There’s no direction nor attempts at persuasion. All that is present is a series of abstracts that can possibly mean something, but I do not know what they mean to the author.

As such, I can firmly state that I feel that this author has failed on many levels. Please, when you write an article with so many images, at least put in commentary so that you continue to persuade your audience. It can’t be too hard. If an author feels like this is too much effort, then perhaps that person should reconsider their decision to write.

For the record, I couldn’t care less about what any think of gamer girls. I’m a female who plays games, I try not to make that much of a deal about it. I just ask to be called a she and not a he. That’s all. So, the entire debate is not worth my time.

May I never read another article like that one again…. Watch, I’ll find one like that in a week.

The Guantlet has a new home!

Once upon a time, Seferia was bored.  In fact, a lot upon a time, Seferia is bored…  However, that is beside the point.  So, Seferia made a group on Capcom Unity to entertain herself for a while.  During that time, she permitted for bending of rules, for it was a private group.  All members were adults, and fun was had.  Seferia approved.

However, that group has died down, and now Seferia is bored again.  So, Seferia is reviving the most popular topic and event from that forums here on her own site with even looser rules.  The only rule is no pornography/illegal content.

Thus, Seferia introduces you to the Gauntlet.  It is a thread of ultimate “top this”-ness.  The objective is to find the worst of the worst out there, of all genres.  Share it and then find more of the greatness to laugh and snicker at.  For quite some time, this thread had a lively following of evilness.

Without further preamble, Seferia presents to you the highlights of the original Gauntlet!

Today’s fandom hall of shame

I may make this a regular bit, I don’t know.  I mean, it may be a bit mean, but…  Here it goes!

I tend to frequent fanfiction.net when I’m bored at work.  It keeps me entertained to read up on my favorite characters in new ways that I may have never even have thought of.  However, as with any part of the fandom, there are always the “what was s/he thinking?”s out there.  These are pieces of work that are so bad or… bad that one has to wonder how this person could dream of putting them up for show.

Of course, I tend to set my searches to a bit of higher standards in hopes of avoiding these turds, but somehow they always slip through the cracks.  Thus, you will never see me post a fic that is below 10k words.  Anything below that point is just too easy to find horrible.

Well, here is today’s entrant into my personal hall of shame.

Dragon’s Scales

Welcome to the fic where you have a mary sue, who happen to be Sephiroth’s sister.  Gets even worse.  The pair happen to be both dragons for unknown reasons, because being a ShinRa experiment isn’t good enough craziness for Sephiroth…, and they also are mates in order to keep the dragon blood-line pure.

Congrats, Dragon’s Scales.  You have definitely made a mark.

Dear spam-bots

Not that this will make much of a difference, but:

Give it up!  I can pretty much easily tell that you’re a spam-bot by seeing the fajklfajkls; in your answers to things like AIM SN.  Also, none of your comments are getting through.  Registering here is getting you no-where but to a deleted state.

Oh, the great mind of greatness

Yes, I think that we have a winner here.  A pure example of brains and cunning.  So great that the tale will be shared for weeks to come.  Perhaps his name will go into the history books under brilliance.  Yes, indeed.

In all seriousness, if you’re going to try to steal something, why would you go ahead and happily admit it to the officials?  Then, bribing the authorities in hoping of “getting out of it”..  Yea, I can’t even process the right words to describe this man.

However, Justin D. May, I must admit one thing about you.  You most certainly are crazy, dumb, and brazen.  If anyone is playing Modern Warfare 2 now and reading this, please try to hunt this man down and laugh at him.

I personally don’t own Modern Warfare 2.  I’m also not in a position where I can attempt such a feat.  However, I still think this guy needs to be laughed at.

At the very least, he has his fifteen minutes of fame.
